More than two months after confirming that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would once again become cover athlete for a WWE video game, 2K Sports has finally pulled back the curtain's on the WWE 2K14 cover art and revealed the first WWE 2K14 game play trailer of the year.

With roughly four months remaining, before WWE 2K14 makes its debut on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, 2K Sports has finally revealed the first WWE 2K14 game play trailer, which also appears to confirm that several household names will be making an appearance on the WWE 2K14 roster. The publisher also revealed the WWE 2K14 cover art, and announced a competition that will see one fan's winning submission chosen to become alternate box art for fans who want to see someone other than The Rock gracing the cover.

Though it isn't long, clocking in at just over a minute in length, the first official WWE 2K14 game play trailer does confirm a handful of notable additions to the WWE 2K14 roster. Not only did 2K Sports confirm guaranteed roster additions like John Cena and The Rock, the first WWE 2K14 game play trailer also revealed a handful of WWE Legends making their (simulated) return to the ring on October 29.

WWE Superstars Confirmed To Be On WWE 2K14 Roster:

  • Dolph Ziggler
  • John Cena
  • "Macho Man" Randy Savage
  • The Rock
  • Ryback
  • Shawn Michaels
  • Stone Cole Steve Austin

Of course, it's virtual impossible to notice the drop-off in graphical quality which is apparent throughout the WWE 2K14 game play trailer, leaving us hopeful that the first WWE 2K14 teaser was captured on a pre-alpha build of the game. We've reached out to Take-Two Interactive (2K Sports' parent company) to see if they have any comment on the matter, and will update this post if/when we hear anything from the WWE 2K 14 publisher.

WWE 2K14 trailer may have also revealed the first new game play feature coming to WWE 2K14 this October, with a brief clip clearly showing Ryback delivering his Shell Shocked finisher to two opponents simultaneously. While previous WWE games have allowed players to use their finishing moves in a variety of situations, if players really can use their favorite Superstar's finisher(s) on multiple opponents, WWE 2K14 would be the first game to allow simultaneous finisher delivery in the history of the franchise.
