You can put down your torches and pitchforks, "Walking Dead" fans, because new comments from Telltale CEO Dan Connors has confirmed that gamers won't actually be forced to wait until 2014 to begin playing through "The Walking Dead" Season Two.
After a member of the "Walking Dead" writing team recently hinted that Telltale might have "Walking Dead" content unrelated to Season Two in the pipeline, a Eurogamer interview with Telltale's chief executive officer seemed to confirm the worst: That "The Walking Dead" Season Two wouldn't surface until sometime during mid/late 2014.
Fortunately, Game Informer managed to get in touch with Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors, who confirmed that "The Walking Dead" Season Two is actually coming sometime during Fall 2013, and not Autumn 2014 as previously reported.
"The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of 'this' year (2013), and not 'next' year (2014)," Connors said in a statement given to IGN, adding, "We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale's series."
The clarification is likely to please many fans who were shocked to learn they'd be forced to wait more than a year to see what events followed the critically-acclaimed first season of "The Walking Dead" when it concluded late last year. A Fall 2014 release date would have put "The Walking Dead" Season 2 in players' hands (or hard drives) nearly two years after the first season was completed.
It's unclear which characters will return in the second season of "The Walking Dead", or what sort of crossovers with AMC's award-winning adaptation of Robert Kirkman's graphic novels could be planned, but "The Walking Dead" Season Two is unlikely to disappoint.
With many questions left unanswered following the conclusion of "The Walking Dead" Season One, many gamers would likely have forked over the necessary $4.99 to begin playing the first episode of Season Two within minutes. While that wasn't a possibility, we know we can't be the only ones thrilled to hear that "The Walking Dead" Season Two will begin within a matter of months.
