"The Vampire Diaries" has found great success on the CW ... so much in that a separate show on the Original vampires could actually become a reality. "The Originals" backdoor pilot is set to air on Thursday, April 25 at 8 p.m., and if all goes well the CW could be going through with the spin off series!
Set in New Orleans, Klaus and Elijah will head to the Big Easy after a tip from Katherine in episode 19, "Pictures Of You." But while "Vampire Diaries" are excited about the new characters and adventures (and possibility of double the vampire drama), a major component that fans are dreading is the loss of character relationships.

Despite how double crossing and evil the Original vampires can be, they have formed some interesting plot lines with the Mystic Falls crew. Many "Vampire Diaries" viewers are diehard "Klaroline" fans that have their hearts set on Caroline getting over Tyler and finally shacking up with Klaus. Others are curious as to whether any romance can play out between Matt and Rebekah. And who can forget Klaus' promise to hunt down Katherine and Tyler to the ends of the earth?
If "The Originals" backdoor pilot is a success ... does the show have enough time to tie everything up neatly?
According to executive producer Julie Plec, that may not be necessary!
Vampire fans -- Remember "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and its spin off series, "Angel"? Plec dished to GiveMeMyRemote.com that "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" will be following a similar crossover.
"I think the fun of it is for 'Buffy' and 'Angel' there's no greater days then when Faith, or Cory, or Spike would roll through there, and actually become regular characters on 'Angel,'" Plec explained. "That for me was thrilling. The sad thing about 'Buffy' and 'Angel' was neither show could afford to lose Buffy or Angel for more than a couple of days, so you didn't really get to do as much with their relationship as you wanted to do."
Fortunately Plec has a solution for her current shows.
Julie Plec revealed to GiveMeMyRemote.com that she would definitely be open to having some of Mystic Falls finest visit the Original family in New Orleans!
"I think the more we can populate 'The Originals' world with these faces of our characters that our Originals have been so deeply embedded with, the more real it will actually feel," she added.
And for those seriously worried about Klaroline? Plec said what's to say that Caroline can't show up "to pursue whatever nagging interest she may or may not have in Klaus if he's still gone."
