It's been a "will they or won't they" type of relationship for "Vampire Diaries" characters Caroline and Klaus. With every step that the pair seem to take forward, something happens to bring them 10 steps back. Now that "The Originals" spinoff has been picked up by the CW, what will it mean for Team Klaroline?
Between Klaus' overall evil nature and Caroline's refusal to betray her friends, a romance never bloomed between the two ... despite the obvious chemistry.
As "Vampire Diaries" fans know, Caroline has been dating Tyler - and Klaus has succeeded in driving Tyler out of Mystic Falls. Whether he thought Tyler's absence would drive Caroline into his arms or not, Team Klaroline has encountered another obstacle besides Klaus' impending departure to New Orleans - he impregnated Hayley with a werewolf baby!
In "The Originals" backdoor pilot in episode 20 the Original vampire learned that despite the odds he managed to turn his one night stand with a werewolf into impending fatherhood. Will he tell Caroline that he got her arch nemesis Hayley pregnant in episode 21, "She's Come Undone"? Will he even tell Caroline that he plans to move to New Orleans?
All of this remains to be seen, but Klaus' Tyler Morgan informed Digital Spy that despite the move and his current circumstances, there is no set plans for him to replace Caroline in his heart.
"I would say with the tremendous outpouring of support from the fans of 'The Originals,' the one thing that's been in question the whole time is what's going to happen with Caroline now?' Morgan explained. 'Because two characters, each on different shows - you're putting an ocean between them."
Fans are definitely not looking for an ocean between the two characters ... in fact they are probably looking for something a lot more intimate. Fortunately Morgan gives hope.
"I know that there's no other love interest in the near future for Klaus. I know that he's very much still enamored with Caroline Forbes - he's still very much interested in that," dished the actor.
Despite learning that Klaus would be having a child with someone else, viewers couldn't help but notice that he did still make a phone call to Caroline in New Orleans. In an episode packed with tension, the one sweet moment came when he left Caroline a message telling her that he wished he could one day take her to his favorite place - New Orleans.
"I think there's a huge amount of crossovers planned for the two shows," Joseph Morgan continued. "The whole idea is to expand this world which [executive producers] Julie [Plec] and Kevin [Williamson] created, and so I think that I would be really surprised if we didn't see the characters crossing over."
But what if a crossover doesn't occur between Klaroline? Morgan teased that pen pals could be an option.
"That would be very Klaus, wouldn't it? Very kind of old school, writing her beautiful letters, beautiful calligraphy, from New Orleans."
