UFO hunter nexus r/UFOs have turned up a Disney documentary about UFOs and aliens that was originally used to promote the “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter” experience (The Wikipedia page describes the attraction, hilariously, as “theater-in-the-round”) that anchored Disney World’s Tomorrowland from 1994 to 2003.
While numerous UFO sites are running the Disney documentary as a “lost” film, it has been available on YouTube for several years. Nevertheless, the “lost” Disney UFO documentary is a fascinating glimpse into both mainstream reportage on alien visitation and the modern UFO conspiracy mindset, which views the documentary as existing in a continuum of “disclosure” material designed to prime humans for the eventual reveal of extraterrestrial contact.

As sensationalized as any History Channel “documentary,” the combination of earnest alien abduction testimony, discussions of government disinfo campaigns, and panspermia is jarring when juxtaposed with the pitchman announcer and theme park promo vibe. But that’s nothing compared to what many UFO researchers believe Disney has done to cover-up the existence of extraterrestrial contact with Earth.
Redditor AnotherPint does a nice job characterizing the conspiracy mindset as it relates to this “lost” Disney UFO documentary:
“According to lore, the doc, which weirdly treats UFOs and aliens as virtually established fact, was shown once, without warning, on a few isolated small-market TV stations in quieter parts of the US, then stowed away.
The conspiracists' view is that this was part of a covert government-Disney collaboration to test public reaction to UFO disclosure. But there is no evidence of this. It was merely a tie-in promotion for a new Disney World attraction.”
The Walt Disney Alien Disclosure Conspiracy
Disney animator Ward Kimball (who is also credited with the rumor that Walt Disney’s dead body had been cryonically frozen) claimed that in 1955 Walt Disney was contacted by the United States Air Force to make a documentary that would unveil government UFO footage to the world. According to Kimball, animated segments were commissioned and work began, but the government reneged, choosing instead to keep alien contact a secret.
Since then other witnesses have claimed to have seen Disney-held footage of UFOs and even documentary proof of alien crash survivors interacting with Air Force personnel.
While no hard evidence has ever emerged to support these fantastic claims, it’s easy to see how the Disney UFO documentary Alien Encounters could be interpreted by believers as existing in a continuum of UFO evidence purposefully withheld from the public, as a government prone to cover-ups experiments with the best way to disclose Earth’s relationship with extraterrestrial life.
