There's still more than a year to go before Tom Clancy's The Division makes its debut on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but new comments from the head of the game's publisher have painted a slightly clearer picture of exactly when gamers can expect The Division release date to arrive.
With more than a year remaining before The Division release date will see the Tom Clancy universe make the jump to next-gen hardware, few likely expected the game to make headlines after Ubisoft's most recent investor meeting, but that's exactly what happened after the game received a mention from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot on Thursday.
According to CVG, Ubisoft's top dog confirmed that Tom Clancy's The Division release date will arrive sometime "closer to the end of 2014," though he stopped short of revealing anything too specific about the company's launch plans for The Division. Guillemot didn't reveal any game play information on The Division during the latest Ubisoft investor meeting either.
The Division has easily become one of the most highly-anticipated titles of the next console generation, since the game's surprise unveiling at the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo, though Ubisoft has yet to nail down even a specific month when gamers can expect The Division release date to arrive. Still, the latest comments from Guillemot certainly add credibility to the theory that Ubisoft is planning to make The Division the centerpiece of the company's Holiday 2014 lineup.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft still hasn't committed to releasing The Division on PC yet ether, though more than one hundred thousand people have already signed a petition asking Ubisoft not to leave the mouse and keyboard crowd out in the cold on The Division's release date. There's no guarantee it'll help, but it certainly can't hurt to ask, right?
If you haven't already, take a few minutes to watch The Division's big unveiling at E3 2013, featuring actual game play footage from The Division game play:

When do you think Ubisoft is planning to schedule/reveal their launch plans for Tom Clancy's The Division? Think The Division release date could be coming earlier than next December? Holding out hope that Ubisoft will confirm a PC version of Tom Clancy's The Division is on the way between now and The Division's launch?
