"Thor 2" footage was screened for Italian film fans earlier this week. What can we expect from "Thor: The Dark World?"

At the Sorrento Professional Cinema Days festival in Italy, Marvel showed Italian fans some special, unreleased, footage from "Thor:The Dark World." ComicBookMovie compiled a list of what exactly Marvel showed in Italy, which included some glimpses of Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, Loki, played by Tom Hiddlston, Odin, played by SIr Anthony Hopkins, and many of the villains, the Dark Elves.

Back in August, Marvel showed some "Iron Man 3" footage at Movie Fest, which was a processor for the trailer a few weeks later, to create some buzz and hype for the Robert Downey Jr.-led superhero film. Does this mean that we can expect a "Thor 2" trailer soon? Obviously, Marvel might change up their marketing strategy for "Thor: The Dark World," but it makes sense for them to release the trailer soon, since the movie comes out in less than a year.

Marvel hasn't officially commented on the footage they screened in Italy, but, CMB writes that Marvel's International Vice President, Nigel Cook, was present to show the first footage of the next Thor-centric movie. The following information is from CMB (the passage was also translated from italian):

"In the preview, a voice-over is heard with the oath of the God of Thunder as the new supreme ruler. We see a clash between Thor and the enemy army, in a world that is neither Asgard let alone the Earth. We see Chris Hemsworth wielding his hammer and Tom Hiddleston as Loki first wounded without a helmet, with long, loose hair and then imprisoned; his anger increasingly desperate and irrational. Then there's a scene later in which he is free again, but still furious.

Against the backdrop of a forest, in the middle of a clearing, among the dust, we in fact face off anthropomorphic creatures, but also a big "gorilla" krosan tusker: a rather alien fauna varies so, although not extreme in size (there are also some envoys/ambassadors of a people mysterious, with oval face and black eyes, elongated and sunken)

The rest of the images show glimpses of Asgard, with Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Natalie Portman in clothes that seem more like a princess; an Asgardian princess. In between, there are images of an epic battle on horseback, who seems to have left an epic cloak-and-dagger. The threat to the Asgardians is certainly a new alien race pale (now identified as the dark elves).

A black spaceship shaped irregularly looks like a serious threat to Asgard. More sequences show Natalie Portman then alongside Thor lying on the ground, probably overwhelmed in a clash."

While these aren't MAJOR spoilers, they certainly show what we can expect from "Thor: The Dark World;" Asgard is under attack, and Thor (and maybe a reluctant Loki) need all the help they can get to save their home planet from destruction. We think the most interesting tidbits from the passage were about Natalie Portman and Loki. Natalie Portman dressing up as a princess isn't new (she was Queen Amidala in the "Star Wars" prequels), but her doing so in "Thor 2" might mean her and Thor are married and that Odin and the rest of Asgard has accepted her as Thor's wife. Also, Loki is still furious over what has transpired in "Thor" and "The Avengers." Loki has tried to destroy Asgard before, but it doesn't seem like he's the cause of this invasion. We thought that after "The Avengers," where Loki was taken back to Asgard to await trial, that he would be a little nicer and possibly even become one of the protagonists in "Thor: The Dark World" or "The Avengers 2." But, it seems like Loki still wants Thor out of the picture, and is livid that his brother is still the king of Asgard.

CMB also wrote that, after the footage, Nigel Cook spoke to the audience and assured them that the movie would begin and end on Earth and that the set pieces that were built were the biggest Marvel Studios has ever made for a movie. He also seemed worried that "Thor 2" wouldn't be as big as "Iron Man 3," which will be released in early May 3. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!

"Thor: The Dark World" will hit theaters in November 2013 and will feature Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston.
