The Super Smash Bros. 4 character list might get a surprising new addition: Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime. That's right, the NOA honcho is part of a fan-driven campaign to add him to the Super Smash Bros. 4 character list. Here's what the Change.org petition has to say about adding Reggie to the Super Smash Bros. 4 character list:
Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO of Nintendo of America, is very popular in the gaming world, and he shot to fame in E3 2004 with his opening line: "My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin' ass, I'm about takin' names, and we're about makin' games." His humorous quotes and theatrical antics have made him into a gaming celebrity.
Many Nintendo fans have pleaded for Reggie to be in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games and he would be a unique character. He could use Nintendo controllers and characters to his advantage as attacks.
The Regginator himself has acknowledged that he is open to the idea of him being in the games, responding to a tweet by user @taco_belmont, but Masahiro Sakurai (the games' director) would first need to approve the new character.
Please sign this petition and help us boost Sakurai and his team to go ahead with Reggie's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U!
To raise awareness about this, please use the hashtag #ReggieForSmashBros and Tweet to @Sora_Sakurai to let him know about this petition. Also Tweet to @NintendoOfAmerica, @NintendoEurope, and @NintendoUK ; and post about this on Miiverse to prove to Nintendo that Reggie deserves a spot on the roster.
The petition to add Reggie to the Super Smash Bros. 4 character list has already reached 11,588 signatures as of the time of this sentence. With the attention the petition is receiving online today, it will probably be a few thousand hits higher by the time you read this. So far, the official Super Smash Bros. 4 character list contains Pikmin & Olimar, Villager, Mario, Donkey Kong, Mega Man, Link, Wii Fit Trainer, Samus, Kirby, Fox McCloud, Pikachu, Bowser and Pit.
Is adding Reggie so far out there? I mean, the Wii Fit Trainer made the cut so why not the face of NOA. It'd be a nice tribute to a guy who's fostered a lot of goodwill among fans.
Super Smash Bros. 4 Screenshot: New Stage
In addition to the (remote) possibility of adding Reggie to the Super Smash Bros. 4 character list, fans were also treated to a screenshot from one of the new stages coming to Super Smash Bros. 4. Here's the screenshot that was posted to the main Super Smash Bros. site by Masahiro Sakurai.
Fans of the Animal Crossing will instantly recognize the Gracie Grace signage and, since villager is on the character list, an Animal Crossing-themed stage makes sense. The platforms aren't visible in the screenshot, so we won't know how the level looks during actual matches. But it's the newest stage to be revealed for Super Smash Bros. 4 and should make fans of Animal Crossing happy, if nothing else.
