Steve Harvey breaks down on his surprise birthday segment of his TV talk show. The 56-year-old host was somewhat annoyed when a crew member said a surprise (via satellite) from Orland, Florida awaited him.
A mystery man named Rich Liss appeared on the screen.
"... I called you to wish you a happy birthday and to ask you one question; do you still love me, baby?" said the mystery man.
At 40 seconds into the clip, Harvey begins to break down AND CRY. What! Steve Harvey? Crying? Those words have never been said in the same sentence before.
Harvey's voice cracks as Liss brings out his wife, Becky.
So who are these people that made the toughest guy break down on national live TV?
Harvey begins to explain to his audience while simultaneously fighting back tears.
"I was 26 years old, man. Struggling. I didn't have nothing and these people owned a furniture store in Cleveland. They took me in and gave me my first contract with my little carpet cleaning company. When I became a comedian at 27, I didn't have money to travel. They gave me an account at their travel agency and man, I ran up a bill that was $11,000 just traveling and try to make it. Those people right there, they helped me out!"
Whoever was in charge of the cameras, damn you!
I was on the verge of not crying when Harvey was choking up but then you show me the bawling audience? Really?
But luckily this comedian gave us some comic relief by saying, "I got money now Rich!"
Harvey has been looking for Liss and his wife for years and told the couple he was going to fly them out to Chicago to see the show.
Harvey continued, "You bailed me, man. I never forgot it. Thank you, man."
... I think I need some chocolate and a hug now. Dammit, Steve!
Think you're tough enough to watch this video? I doubt it.
