The "Skyrim" DLC (downloadable content) "Dragonborn" release date for PS3 is slated for early 2013, according to Bethesda. The game developer best known for the "Elder Scrolls" franchise is reportedly working on bringing Dawnguard and Hearthfire to the PS3 as well.

One day before the "Skyrim" DLC "Dragonborn" arrived for Xbox LIVE Bethesda posted an update to their official blog, hinting at the DLC's PS3 release date.

"We're also happy to announce Dragonborn will be available on PS3 and PC early next year," Bethesda wrote on December 3, 2012, hinting that the DLC release date could arrive as soon as January 2013.

Bethesda Game Studios shared the a similar message on their official Twitter account regarding the "Skyrim" DLC release date for PlayStation.

"#Dragonborn releases on 360 tomorrow and early next year for PC & PS3! We're excited for all of you to play it," @BGS_Devs tweeted.

"And we're still not done - we look forward to sharing more Skyrim news next year!" Beth blog added, hinting that 2013 could see the release of even more DLC content.

Three days later Beth blog posted an update, outlining their plan for the "Skyrim" DLC release date:

"For those that are playing the content already, we hope you're having a blast in Solstheim. And as noted in Monday's blog post, we're hard at work to make this content available early next year on PS3 and PC. On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn't want folks to wait longer. Once it's ready to go for everyone, we'll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we'll let you know."

Skyrim DLC for PS3 release dates have been marred on non-existant throughout the game's history, causing many PlayStation owners to complain that Bethesda doesn't care about them. However, in a recent article IGN explains how the gap in game expansions between different consoles is unintentional:

"The previous two expansions for the Skyrim, Dawnguard and Hearthfire, were originally meant to enjoy 30 days of exclusivity on Microsoft's console. Due to technical issues however, the DLC didn't make it to the PC for slightly longer and neither pack is yet to arrive on PS3, though Bethesda has regularly stated it is working hard to bring the latest content to PlayStation owners"

On Twitter, PS3 owners have been tweeting their excitement over the news that the latest "Skyrim" DLC will be released on their consoles in the near future.

"I have about 5 characters... BETH just replied to me when I said PS3 users will get Dragonborn in 9 days. They said we will ann," tweeted @MasterDaedra99.

"I'm checking up news on dragonborn every day! Can't wait till its out on ps3!" tweeted Cole McGrath.

"Soooooo gassed that dragonborn is coming out for ps3," tweeted @klexaenwright.

"As a ps3 user im feeling completely left out by @Bethblog on christmas since they are giving dragonborn codes and we still dont have dlcs," tweeted @Matheusos0810.
