The 'Skyrim' DLC PS3 release date is set to arrive in "early 2013" according the Bethesda, and the latest rumor is that PlayStation users could get a price drop on the long-awaited downloadable content.
The latest Skyrim PS3 DLC release date rumor comes from Auto-oMobile, and has been labeled as a prediction. The tech news-site notes that the 'Dragonborn' DLC for PS3 "may be out any day, but Dawnguard and Hearthfire may be some time away."
(UPDATE: See what Bethesda's Pete Hines said regarding the PS3 release date on Twitter.)
While the next (well first actually) Skyrim DLC PS3 release date still remains a mystery, Bethesda is rumored to already be working on the next DLC for Xbox 360, allegedly titled Redguard. Shortly following the leak, the company began offering a 50 percent discount on two Xbox DLC's, Dawnguard and Hearthfire.
The Skyrim DLC price drop is likely because Bethesda is already working on the next game expansion, but Auto-oMobile predicts that the company could be paving the way to offer a similar discount to PS3 users when the downloadable content finally arrives on the long-snubbed system.
We wouldn't hold our breath though (and you shouldn't either). Word on the street is that Bethesda wil release two more Skyrim DLC's before moving on to the next "Elder Scrolls" title altogether, and it based on the company's rocky history with PS3 users, it seems pretty plausible that the next Xbox DLC could arrive before PlayStation sees a single release.
"Of course these are rumurs, but it would make sense," writes Dwayne Madden for Auto-oMobile. "Whether owners of Skyrim on the PS3 are offered a discount or not, they should get some form of compensation for having to wait thing long."
Considering the torture that PlayStation users appear to be going through while (im)patiently waiting for the first Skyrim PS3 DLC release date we get the feeling that even a 50 percent price drop may not be good enough. We suggest that Bethesda President Vlatko Andonov hand write an individual apology to each and every PlayStation user along with a discount gift card. That seems about right to us.

PlayStation fans have long complained that Bethesda has snubbed the system, releasing one DLC after another for Skyrim on Xbox without throwing PS3 users a single expansion. Then, one day before the extremely popular Dragonborn DLC arrived on Xbox 360, the game developers revealed that they were hard at work on a PS3 version of the downloadable content, and promised its release date would arrive in "early 2013."
"We're also happy to announce Dragonborn will be available on PS3 and PC early next year," Bethesda wrote on December 3, 2012, hinting that the DLC release date could arrive as soon as January 2013.
The same announcement was repeated on Twitter.
Well, early 2013 has arrived, and Bethesda's murky promise of a Skyrim DLC for PS3 seems more mysterious than ever before. Will Dragonborn hit PlayStation by the end of January? February? March? All we can say is that if Redguard arrives on Xbox 306 before the PS3 gets its first expansion Bethesda may have a full scale revolt on their hands.
In an earlier post, Auto-oMobile noted that a January Skyrim PS3 DLC release date seems unlikely.
"For those that are playing the content already, we hope you're having a blast in Solstheim. And as noted in Monday's blog post, we're hard at work to make this content available early next year on PS3 and PC. On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn't want folks to wait longer. Once it's ready to go for everyone, we'll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we'll let you know."
