Well it may be a few more months until most of us get any hands on time with "Elder Scrolls Online", but Bethesda isn't leaving the "Elder Scrolls" faithful out in the cold, delivering the "Skyrim" 1.9 update for PC earlier this week.

Roughly six months after "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" 1.8 went live on Steam last October, Bethesda has released the "Skyrim" 1.9 update via Steam, adding a new Legendary difficulty and essentially stripping out the game's existing level cap. The latest "Elder Scrolls V" update also includes a myriad of bug fixes, covering everything from memory leaks to less common issues like improperly applied buffs/debuffs.

Most "Skyrim" fans will be most intrigued by the game's new Legendary skill system though, which allows players who've maxed out one or more statistics to reset said stats and begin working on their post-81 character levels. Each time that a skill is reset, players will have all of their associated perk points refunded to them, and be rewarded with a new character level each time a reset stat is leveled back to 100. We imagine that fans of both the "Elder Scrolls" franchise and "endless" RPGs like "Disgaea" are probably losing their minds right now.

Of course, not everyone is thrilled with the changes. Numerous commenters on the official announcement post complained about the changes breaking abilities like Ancient Knowledge, and pointing out that those interested in having their level caps removed could have simply installed one or more previously existing "Skyrim" mods.

Still, given the inability to install mods on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of "Skyrim" -- not to mention many players' hesitance to install unofficial game modifications -- we suspect that the majority of the "Skyrim" playing public will welcome news of the "Skyrim" 1.9 update.

While the "Skyrim" 1.9 update is only being distributed via Steam at this time, Bethesda was quick to confirm that the content would be headed to consoles as well in the coming weeks, and the company hopes to see the content on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 before the end of the month. Of course, we don't blame any PS3 owner that remains skeptical of the announcement, given the drastic wait times that the platform has seen for previous "Skryim" DLC/updates.
