The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date is almost in site. Specs and features rumors are starting to leak regarding the 3rd-gen phablet and the latest news is that new device could feature an LCD screen. Read on for more Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date news, specs, features and rumors.
The latest Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date rumors come from SamMobile and their anonymous inside sources working for the South Korean tech giant. The mobile tech blog reports that while the decision is still in the air, the company's engineers appear to be leaning towards LCD displays by sharp over OLED screens
Here's the full report from SamMobile on what type of screen to expect when the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives later in 2013:
"Samsung [has] already started with the Galaxy Note III discussions. The insiders of SamMobile started to send us information about this new upcoming product. According to him Samsung is [too] busy to make a final decision about what kind of screen to use for the Galaxy Note III. LCD by Sharp are according him the best LCD displays ever. Samsung could make the S Pen experience better with LCD than with AMOLED / PHOLED. Even the latest Note series by Samsung the Galaxy Note 8.0 uses an LCD display. Samsung recently bought a part of Sharp with the focus on LCD panels."
Moving beyond the Galaxy Note 3 release date, SamMobile reveals that Samsung still has big plans for their popular OLED display in the near future:
"We also asked our source what Samsung will do with OLED panels.
Samsung's focus is to use OLED products in bigger things like tablets, flexible display and high-end smartphones. But the insider confirmed for the second time, LCD is better for the S Pen experience."
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date quickly approaching, specs and features rumors are flying in all directions. Android Community weighed in on the rumored LCD screen with a mix of excitement and trepidation:
"Anyway, according to the latest, Samsung may end up using an LCD display in the Galaxy Note 3. We say may end up using because this does not seem like a done deal just yet. Further chatter coming by way of SamMobile mentions how Samsung is currently busy trying to make a final decision on the display type."
The Galaxy Note 3 release date will arrive late this summer, by which we mean September 2013 (right around the same time we expect Apple to announce the next iPhone release date). These latest reports pegging Samsung's 3rd-gen phablet for the not-too-distant future have surfaced across the web.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date experts over at Android Geeks have put forward a pretty convincing argument for a September 2013 phablet launch:
"Since the latest reports are showing that Apple will set the iPhone 5S release date for June, we might even see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in flesh at IFA Berlin 2013 held between September 6 to 11. Or maybe Samsung will unveil its next-gen tablet in a separate event (just like it did with the Galaxy S3) a week before IFA Berlin, so all the media will be focusing on their new release."
The actual Galaxy Note 3 release date is expected to arrive in either late Q2 or early Q3, according to industry analysts. In layman's terms that would be late June July or early September, which just happens to be around the same time we expect Apple to launch their next iteration of the iPhone.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date will give Samsung fans the chance to own the South Korean company's biggest Galaxy-branded smartphone yet. While early rumors claimed that the phablet's specs included a massive 6.3 inch screen, recent reports suggest a slightly smaller (but still ginormous) 5.9-inch screen. Those who believe that bigger is always better may be disappointed by the latest news, but you have to admit that a 6+ inch device is a tad excessive.
So the Galaxy Note 3 release date will feature a 5.9-inch tablet along with a host of other specs and features (more on that later), at least according to The Korea Times. While the article doesn't name the device as Samsung's next-gen device explicitly, instead referring to a "5.9-inch handset," it seems unlikely that the company would release two competing phablets around the same time.
"Samsung is workig on introducing a new phablet using a 5.9-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen," an anonymous Samsung executive allegedly told The Korea Times.
The Galaxy Note 3 release may not arrive until late Summer 2013, but that hasn't stopped Chinese manufacturers from pumping out cheap clones of the 6.3-inch smartphone-tablet hybrid. According to GizChina, the knockoff phablet features a 6.3-inch display with a quad-core processor under its hood.
Hitting Chinese stores far ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 release date, the knockoff clone, not-so-cleverly titled the "Note 3" ships in an simple black box. Maxwell notes that the device looks a lot like Samsung Galaxy Note 2 knockoff, the GooPhone N2, but adds that the processor has been upgraded from a dual-core MT6577 CPU to the "more powerful and efficient" quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor chip, clocked at 1.2Ghz.
"According to the specs this knock-off will run on GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz 3G: WCDMA 2100MHz, networks GSM / GPRS / EDGE / UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA. 802.11n Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS and Bluetooth 3.0 are all onboard too," reports GizChina.
So once the Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives what new specs and features can we expect from Samsung's most powerful smartphone? Well, the latest rumor is that the third generation phablet will feature wireless charging.
A number of leaks have already surfaced revealing that Samsung engineers are hard at work developing a wireless charger in time for the Galaxy Note 3 release date. The latest source for this rumor is a video of the new technology filmed at FCC.
Sounds great, but the biggest improvement to Samsung's phablet will likely be the processor chip. When the Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives we expect it to sport the much-hyped Exynos 5 Octa 8-core processor.
Last month at CES 2013, Samsung teased the Galaxy S4 Galaxy Note 3 release dates with a presentation focusing on their beefed up processor:
Not long after Samsung's CES demonstration, the South Korean company leaked a photo of the Exynos 5 Octa processor on Twitter, reported the Christian Post, noting that this is the chip that will likely be implemented in time for the Galaxy Note 3 release date.
