While it has been known for a long time that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be a timed exclusive for the Xbox line of consoles, Amazon apparently wants to get a jump on sales for any console. As of right now, PS4 gamers can go on Amazon and pre-order themselves a copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 incredibly early.
The pre-order is claiming that Rise of the Tomb Raider will still be retailing for $59.99 when the PS4 version is released. This may be a disappointment to some who might be expecting to see a bit of a price cut given that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be around a year old by the time PS4 players get to trek out on Lara's latest adventure. The release date is sitting at Dec. 31, 2016, a common placeholder date.
How long will PS4 gamers have to wait until their pre-ordered copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider actually ships? We now know exactly how timed the release will be. According to the Tomb Raider Tumblr account, Rise of the Tomb Raider will be coming to PC in early 2016 and PS4 a year after launch in the holiday season of 2016.

While Xbox One and Xbox 360 has an exclusive release period, that will end shortly with the PC version. The PC version is slated to be released a few short months after the Nov. 10 release of Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming in early 2016. This means we will probably see Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC before or during March.
Lara will then jump to the PS4 a year later. That means we will probably see a PS4 release date of Rise of the Tomb Raider somewhere around November or December 2016. It doesn't seem that developer Crystal Dynamics has any plans to bring the latest Tomb Raider to PS3.
"After uncovering an ancient mystery, Lara must explore the most treacherous and remote regions of Siberia to find the secret of immortality before a ruthless organization known as Trinity," according to the post on Tumblr. "Lara must use her wits and survival skills, form new alliances, and ultimately embrace her destiny as the Tomb Raider."
In other Tomb Raider news, after having a successful comeback, Lara Croft looks to continue her good fortunes in the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider. Below is one of the newest trailers just released for Rise of the Tomb Raider, called "Aim Greater."
As we can see, Lara finds herself climbing through a blizzard as she scales an icy mountain. Things almost take a turn for the worse as she's clambering her way up an ice wall, but she holds on to make it to the cave at the top. All of this happens while Lara is pontificating on why people push themselves to explore the farthest reaches of the globe. You would think she wants some pants on instead of her iconic short shorts, but maybe they get in the way of climbing.
We have also received our first look at the Rise of the Tomb Raider box art. The image was just tweeted out my Microsoft's Major Nelson. Give it a peek for yourself:
