Immigration officials have denied Randy Quaid's request for permanent residency in Canada. He and wife Evi claim that they are targets of Hollywood "star-whackers", leaving them fearful for their lives. I guess it's the year of conspiracy theories.
The couple stated in an application for judicial review, "Organized crime and its victims are serious issues and can not be tossed off until the claim is heard."
They continued to state that the refugee claim should remain intact as long as 'their heads remain attached to their necks'.
Sounds like a scene out of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, however this couple truly believes that they are being persecuted by lawyers and agents who have the incentive to kill them and other 'famous actors'.
The Quaid's claimed that friends such as Heath Ledger and David Carradine died under mysterious circumstances and they were sure that they would be next.
So the couple applied for refugee status back in October 2010, but apparently Canada has no interest in having the 'famous actors' reside there.
They were denied status for reasons unknown despite Evi Quaid's father being born in Canada, giving her full Canadian citizenship and the ability to sponsor her husband.
The Quaid's claim their lives at once again at risk and write:
"The Quaid's claim is not 'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle'. Evi and Randy Quaid's lives are in danger here! Evi and Randy Quaid have been subjected to an injustice!"
The only injustices I see hear is talking in third person. Annoying.
According to The Week, this odd behavior may be due to drugs. Surprise, surprise. A private investigator was once hired by the Quaid's and he came to notice that Evi "snorts Demerol to cute migraines and believes a murder plot is afoot".
Most of the couple's friends and family, including Randy's younger brother Dennis Quaid, have tried to give them help.
During the Quaid's interview with Vanity Fair the couple said that they hadn't eaten at a table in a restaurant in 18 months due to their fear.
"They're hunting us," Evi said. "It's really happening. They've got us in a spiral. 'Don't let up on 'em. Drive 'em off the road. Starve 'em to death. Pull their money out of their bank accounts.' "
Randy stated nonchalantly according the VF, "I guess I'm worth more to 'em dead than alive."
This is what Twitter had to say of the Quaid's trying to flee:
@woobiesmum - Sorry USA he's still yours
@teamyasumura - Canada has denied residence to Randy Quaid. Between national health and this, Canada can do no wrong in my book.
@mpcabrey - Country's full.
