[UPDATE 9/10 8:50am EST] Those looking to expand their collection of "shiny" Pokemon will also want to head down to GameStop at some point in the next twenty days, as the popular retailer will be offering shiny Palkia's to current Pokemon owners, one month after offering a shiny Dialga in a similar Pokemon X and Y promotion.

Only a few weeks remain, before the Pokemon X and Y release date send millions of gamers (like us) back into the grips of near-debilitating Pokemon addictions, and one major cable network just announced a block of programming that should help maintain the excitement of those anxiously awaiting each new day's Pokemon X and Y news.

One week after Pokemon X and Y are released around the globe, Cartoon Network will air a night of Pokemon programming, a programming block which is set to include the U.S. television debut of the latest Pokemon full-length animated feature. 'Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awaken' will not only feature a new red Genesect but the recently announced secondary form of the legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo.

Though they've only been public knowledge for a few weeks, the upcoming slate of Mega Pokemon have easily become one of the most-discussed new features of Pokemon X and Y, dominating message boards, forums and personal discussions of those who stay up-to-date with the latest Pokemon X and Y news. In fact, social media exploded last week, after Nintendo confirmed that Blastoise, Charizard and Venusaur would be getting Mega evolutions of their own in Pokemon X and Y.

While many believed they'd already seen Mega Mewtwo for themselves, The Pokemon Company recently confirmed that purported images of Mega Mewtwo floating around the web were nothing more than elaborate hoaxes. It's unclear if we'll actually get a chance to see Mega Mewtwo ahead of the Pokemon X and Y release date, either in-game or via trailer(s) for 'Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awaken', but we've certainly got our fingers crossed.

In addition to 'Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awaken', Cartoon Network will also air 'Pokemon the Movie: Kyurem vs. the Sword of Justice' and a two-episode sneak preview of the latest Pokemon anime: 'Pokemon the Series: XY'. In total, Pokemon will dominate Cartoon Network for approximately five hours on October 19, and several new faces from Pokemon X and Y are expected to make their U.S. television debuts that day.

In other Pokemon X and Y news, several retailers (like Best Buy and Amazon) have joined GameStop in accepting pre-orders for the Pokemon X and Y Nintendo 3DS XL units, giving fans who don't already own a Nintendo 3DS XL - or those who just want to show their support for the Pokemon franchise - a chance to purchase their own Pokemon X and Y Nintendo 3DS XL before they hit store shelves on September 27.

If you haven't seen them yet, check out some official footage from 'Pokemon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awaken' and 'Pokemon the Movie: Kyurem vs the Sword of Justice':
