Paul McCartney returned to "Saturday Night Live" to perform "(Simply Having A) Wonderful Christmas Time," his Holiday classic, released after the Beatles broke up. Watch the SNL video here or below:

Paul McCartney's SNL performance of "Wonderful Christmas Time" was actually his third performance of this night (watch the other two: My Valentine and Cut Me Some Slack). Paul's third song was also incorporated into a hilarious sketch featuring the former Beatles bassist and guest host Martin Short as a musical duo auditioning for a small-town Christmas pageant.

The skit, titled "Holiday Pageant," opened on SNL's Kenan Thompson auditioning with a bizarre Christmas love song in which he was the holiday goose and an unnamed girl was the stuffing. Kenan's song was swiftly rejected at which point Martin Short and Paul McCartney walked onstage, to the delight of the "Saturday Night Live" audience.

Paul and Martin were billed as "singing duo Caleb and Monty," but Short quickly corrected the titled.

Short: "We are not a singing duo. I am the singer and Monty plays the triangle, which is the best part because you don't want to hear Monty sing."

McCartney: "I like to sing."

Short: "Would you be quiet please, don't always say things, just be quiet!"

Caleb and Monty then began to perform their original song, "Holiday Time, Holiday Cheer," which featured campy vocals from Short and a carefully timed triangle performance by McCartney, who failed to remember his queue.

At this point Martin Short began yelling at Paul McCartney again.

McCartney: "Can I sing too?"

Short: "No, because you can't sing. I sing. it's not a complicated theory. i have the million dollar voice, you don't."

At this point the organizers attempt to reject this song, but Short pleads for another chance. McCartney messes up again, of course, and Short proceeds to lambast him.

Short: "You know where he was. you know where i found him when we were supposed to be rehearsing? he was stuck in a tree!"

McCartney: "I was chasing a bird"

Short: "I hate you monty! I hate the way you look. i hate the way you speak. i hate who you are. So I quit! best of luck on your solo career."

Paul: "Can I sing now?"

The organizers shrug yes, and the set is pulled away to reveal a full band ready to perform Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time" for the SNL audience.

Here are the full lyrics (via Lyrics Freak) to "Wonderful Christmas Time" so you can sing along with Paul McCartney:

The moon is right

The spirit's up

We're here tonight

And that's enough

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The party's on

The feelin's here

That only comes

This time of year

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The choir of children sing their song

Ding dong, ding dong

Ding dong, ding, oh, oh

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The word is out

About the town

To lift a glass

Ah, don't look down

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The choir of children sing their song

They practiced all year long

Ding dong, ding dong

Ding dong, ding dong

Ding dong, ding dong

The party's on

The spirit's up

We're here tonight

And that's enough

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

The moon is right

The spirit's up

We're here tonight

And that's enough

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time
