"Vampire Diaries" fans received quite a shock on New Year's Eve when star Nina Dobrev shared some pretty wild news on her Twitter.

As most are well aware, 23-year-old Dobrev is dating her smoking hot CW co-star, Ian Somerhalder. Together for a couple years, rumors have consistently been swirling around the famous duo getting engaged. While Dobrev has denied that the two will be having a wedding anytime soon, she tweeted a major jaw dropper this past Monday. So, what did "The Vampire Diaries" star tweet to her fans? She's getting married!

"Found my soulmate," Dobrev initially posted. She then tweeted, "I'm getting married!!!!!!!!"

Before those dreaming of a chance with 34-year-old Somerhalder get crushed, Dobrev's tweets aren't exactly what they seem. Along with Dobrev's two tweets also came two photos...and neither featured Somerhalder, a ring or a wedding dress. Instead, the photos display Dobrev holding a baby tiger!

"He's orange...And soft...And we'll be together forever. Match made in heaven...IM IN HEAVEN," Nina Dobrev continued on Twitter, posting another photo of her beaming with the adorable animal.

Ian Somerhalder DID have something to say to her New Year's Eve posts. "Wait? WTF!?" Somerhalder responded and retweeted to her final post on the tiger.

While Dobrev and Somerhalder may not getting ready to walk down the aisle just yet, the two did spend New Year's Eve together in Thailand. Their overseas holiday celebration follows rumors that the pair spent Christmas together. In December a source revealed to Perezhilton.com that the two were "excited to celebrate the holidays together. It's a sign that they're taking things to the next level. [They live together too and] there are no obligations but work and living together - their relationship is at its best here!"

Nina Dobrev will be celebrating her 24th birthday on January 9...will a ring from Ian Somerhalder be among her gifts this year? Only time will tell!

You can catch Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder on "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursday evenings at 8 p.m.
