The Nexus 10 2 specs are likely to be based off two new rumored Samsung tablets, the P900 and P600, both of which have had their specs revealed recently by @evleaks. These two new tablets could be rolled out during IFA Berlina 2013 along with a new Galaxy Tab series. A German source, Mobile Geeks, suggest that that two tablets may be revealed alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet and could potentially form the basis for the new Nexus 10 second generation upgrade that has been announced.

The Nexus 10 2 specs are not likely to take anything from the first rumored Samsung tablet, the SM P900, a 12.2-inch tablet with the new Exynos 5 Octa processor that Samsung revealed during its developer conference. The SM P900 is likely to part of the Galaxy Note family.12.2 inches is larger than anything that would accompany the Nexus line, and the P900 includes an S-pen. The 12.2-inch P900 would be the largest Android device produced by Samsung, not counting the massive Ativ Q. The second rumored tablet is the SM P600, a smaller 10-inch tablet with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

What is remarkable about the new Nexus 10 2 P600 tablets, aside from the powerful processorsm is the 2560x1600 resolution, the same resolution as the Nexus 10. The resolution gives the P600 a good, crisp display of tablets and perhaps indicates that the Nexus 10 second generation may boast similar specs with a modest refresh for the hardware, just like we saw with the Nexus 7 2.

The Nexus 10 2 specs are likely to be a modest refresh rather than a large jump,"The current Nexus 10 features a very high-res 2,560 x 1,600 display, 2GB of RAM and is powered by a dual-core Samsung Exynos 5 chipset. Whacking a bit of a newer processor in it and sticking Android 4.3 on there would be enough to make it a winner."

The dual core Samsung Exynos 5 processor is likely to be replaced by either the new Exynos 5 Octa or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. We would bet on the Snapdragon 800 rather than the Exynos 5 Octa. Developers have criticized the Samsung Exynos line for lagging when it comes to update support. Google is likely to prefer the Snapdragon 800, as the familiar chip has a reputation for efficiency and power. The P600 has the Snapdradon 800 with a core closed at 2.3GHz. The Nexus 7 2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 ProCPU, so there is a precedent for using Snapdragon chipsets.

In terms of Nexus 10 2 processor, the Exynos 5 Octa could still be on the table because Mobile Geeks reports that the Exynos 5420 family outclasses the Snapdragon 800 when it comes to graphics. The Nexus 7 2 was very much graphic focused, offering a better resolution along with gamer focused offerings and developer tools to improve visuals. Google also spoke about how gamers are driving tablet sale. The Exynos 5 Octa is rumored to be on some variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, though Samsung will also offer versions with the Snapdragon 800 processor.

Overall, we can expect more information about the potential Nexus 10 2 refresh closer to September's IFA Berlin 2013. Samsung is likely to announce the two new P600 and P900 tablets at that point, so we should get a better idea of what to expect from a Nexus 10 second generation upgrade in terms of specs and release date.

If the Nexus 10 2 comes out sometime in October or November, it could run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rather than Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Its worth remembering that when Google says "very soon" it could still be months and months. The Nexus 10 original was released in November, so, taking that into account, we could be looking at the Nexus 10 2 release date at the same time.
