The Mayan Apocalypse 2012 is drawing closers, and people who are worried about Doomsday want to know what time the world will end on December 21, 2012. And while some places are merely counting down to midnight on December, 21 2012, the Mayan Apocalypse isn't simply scheduled for midnight -- otherwise places such as China and New Zealand would already be in the midst of the Mayan Apocalypse.

Since the Mayans lived in the Yucatan Peninsula, the Mayan Apocalypse goes on their time, meaning the time zone the Mayan Apocalypse will occur in is the Mayans own. However, what time the world will end on December 21, 2012, is still up for debate.

While many people firmly believe the Mayan Apocalypse will occur at midnight on December 21, 2012, other sources believe the Mayan Apocalypse to be connected to the winter solstice, which also occurs on December 21, 2012. The winter solstice occurs at 11:11 a.m. December 21, 2012, which means there is less than 24 hours until the end of the world.

But 11:11 a.m. on December 21, 2012 isn't only the Mayan Apocalypse, it could be a signifier of something even bigger -- it may even be tied to September 11, 2001.

"I have been asked many times about the September 11th 2001 attacks in New York and Washington. People ask me how I can claim that 11/11 is positive when there were so many deaths in those attacks?," Psychic Uri Geller says on the website "11 isn't just a precursor to danger etc - it's the whole point! 1+1 = 2 - unity, togetherness, peace. September 11 was a tragic event - no-one would question that - but if it leads to people realizing that the only way for this race to survive is togetherness and peace, maybe those deaths will not be in vain."

But Uri Geller isn't the only person to make a connection between the Mayan Apocalypse and December 21, 2012.

"Interestingly enough, although not coincidentally, 11:11 December 21, 2012 UTC is when the Winter (or if you don't live on the Mayan side of the equator, Summer) Solstice will occur; so you might want to have a quick look up at the sky at that point," notes.

Whatever time the Mayan Apocalypse occurs and the world comes to an end on December 21, 2012, its clear the Mayans have been counting down to it for thousands of years.

"The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. ( in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree," the website says. "This is an event that has been coming to resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years. It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am."
