Revenge. Ah, how sweet it is. Particularly in the case of a man who bought every last pie (23 in all) from Burger King just to spite a whiny ass kid pestering his mother continually for one.
In a post on Reddit's OffMyChest subreddit, user thr111 asks, "Am I a bad person for this?"
The man then goes on to divulge his tale of purchasing every single pie available from a Burger King worker, to teach the whiny little brat in the line behind him that crime doesn't pay.
And, indeed, anyone who's spent any amount of time in close quarters with a child who won't be pleased until he's had his own way knows, enduring that should most certainly be a crime -- particularly when the little hellion isn't even yours.
In his account, the man shares the events leading to him purchasing the pies with the express purpose of spiting the nasty, snotty little tyke behind him.
"So a while ago I had decided to treat myself and go to Burger King. I hadn't had the greatest of days and I had a headache coming on. It was a very long line and I was at the end of it, waiting patiently ... behind me comes this woman yapping on her cellphone with a little monster of a child. This kid was out of control, screaming, punching his mother throwing around a Gameboy whenever something didn't go right in the game. The mother didn't seem to pay any attention to him and his continued yelling of 'I want a Fucking PIE' ... I calmly turned and asked her nicely if she could please calm or quiet her child down. Immediately she gets in my face telling me I can't tell her nothing about raising her child and to mind my own business. I nod and turn around. She still yelling at the back of my head when the child cries out again how he wants a pie. The mother consoles him, calling him 'sweety' and ensures they'll get pies for lunch because she loves him so much ... I then decide to ruin their day. I order every pie they have left in addition to my burgers. Turned out to be 23 pies in total. I take my order and walk towards the exit. Moments later I hear the woman yelling, 'What do you mean you don't have any pies left, who bought them all?' I turn around and see the cashier pointing me out and the woman shooting me a death glare. I stand there and pull out a pie and slowly start eating as I stare back at her. She starts running towards me but can't get to me because of other lineups in the food court. I turn and slowly walk away."
While a part of me sympathized momentarily with the mother in this tale, the rest of me was cheering this man and his pie-buying revenge tactics. Indeed, in my mind, I was slapping this guy on the back and giving him a high five.
As a parent of a toddler and an 8-year-old, I'm well-versed in antics of bratty, over-indulged kids and know the havoc they can wreak on the lives of their parents. As such, I do my best to drive those shenanigans as far from my two fellows as I possibly can. And while they certainly aren't perfect, for the most part, they understand that throwing fits in a fast food line is one of the best ways to find themselves on a fast train home without a toy, a happy meal or even a tiny bit of pie.
Perhaps it's the many times I've had to deal with the whiny fits of my own small ones, or maybe it's my distain for those who don't know how to tell a little kid no, but either way, when I read this account, my heart smiled. If liking this pie buying fool's behavior is wrong, then I don't want to be right.
Well played, Mr. Pie Man. Well played.
