The highly anticipated multiplayer mod for Just Cause 3 is finally available, albeit in beta form, clearing the way for the kinds of absurd action the community managed to create with a similar offering for Just Cause 2 . Here’s what we know about the new mod, including installation instructions for those of you playing Just Cause 3 on a gaming PC.
For those who haven’t been following the project, the Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod isn’t an official addition to the open-world explosion simulator from Avalanche Studios and Square Enix. It is the brainchild of nanos GbR, a team of modders who’ve created similar mods for Mafia 2 , Grand Theft Auto IV and a planned (but cancelled) alternate multiplayer mode for GTA V. All of nanos’ mods utilize the team’s in-house toolkit, the nanos Multiplayer Framework, which is designed to make it easier for Unreal Engine and CryEngine developers to add multiplayer features to new games.
The new Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod is currently available for download from a dedicated third-party site, where players can also setup a new multiplayer server, and installation couldn’t be much easier. Once you’ve downloaded the client, run the installer (no need to install to your JC3 directory) and then run the launcher it adds to your PC. In the future, nanos GbR says fans might be able to install the Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod directly through Steam, but can’t yet say for sure.

Just Cause 3 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
