Did Jenni Rivera's daughter have an affair with her stepdad?
After the Mexican-American singer's horrific death in a plane crash in Nuevo Leon on Sunday, questions are surfacing once again about the relationship between Rivera's daughter, Chiquis Rivera, and her stepfather, Esteban Loaiza.
According to People en Español, Jenni's eldest daughter said in October: "Don't believe everything you read. I would NEVER do that! Never! That's a terrible accusation."
Rivera filed for divorce from Loaiza, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, only two months before the crash on Dec. 9. The 43-year-old singer cited irreconcilable differences in the divorce papers filed in October.
According to a statement released by a publicist there were "private circumstances that occurred during the lapse of their two-year marriage." Now, yet again, fans are wondering what those circumstances were.
The singer addressed rumors about the alleged affair saying: "One of these gossip magazines approached me to do an interview and clear things up, and I said I wasn't interested.... Please send me your prayers. I need them."
Little did she know when she said that how awful things would become. The Learjet 25 took off from Monterrey at 3:30 a.m. and was reported missing ten minutes later. Until Sunday evening, friends, family and fans were praying that news of the missing plane would take a positive turn. But it was not to be.
Rivera's father, Pedro, told reporters who came to his LA. home that: "I believe my daughter's body is unrecognizable. ... My son, Lupillo, told me that effectively, it was Jenni's plane that crashed and that everyone on board died."
Soon after the devastating news broke, fans and friends took to Twitter to offer condolences and prayers. "My friend! Why? There is no consolation. God, please help me!" Mexican singer Paulina Rubio tweeted.
"My heart breaks for the loss of Jenni Rivera & everyone on the plane," Eva Longoria tweeted. "My prayers go out to her family. We lost a legend."
