Though many avid jailbreak fans have been warned to avoid installing iOS 6 on their older A4 iPhones, iPads and iPods due to lacking Cydia availability, it appears, just a day after its release, someone had in fact figured out how to go about it. Jailbreak Nation was the first to report the loophole and now anxious iOS 6 hungry jailbreakers can have their cake and eat it too.
Just as a word of warning: the current jailbreak available is a developer download, and therefore, may have some "bugs" still to be ironed out. Additionally, it is a tethered download, meaning each time you want to reboot your phone, you will have to connect to a computer and jailbreak it all over again. This can be a bit of a drag...just sayin'
Additionally, here are a few downsides to the iOS 6 update you may want to consider also before switching to the update as the Big Boss so critically noted on his website:
1) Removes YouTube
2) Removes Google Maps.
3) Adds Apple Maps. No street view, no transit directions. (By the way, according to some of my peeps, here at iDigital Times, apple maps are kinda terrible!)
4) Adds what? Facebook integration, ViP mail, do not disturb? iOS 5 users, you can get "do not disturb" functionality with "Ringerx Vip" in Cydia.
Overall, the big guy was not impressed and even had this to say about the system, ""iOS 6 is a total dud. I think it's by far the worst major upgrade Apple has ever provided. It's more like a 5.1.2 than a 6.0".
Of course that's just one guy's opinion.
On the other hand, iOS 6 is coming with some pretty attractive new offerings such as improvements to Siri, Face Time, the amazing Passbook capabilities, custom email alerts and geo-fenced alert systems plus about a million other goodies.

So if you do decide the jailbreak is worth it, here's what you will need to do.
1) Download redsn0w 0.9.13dev4, and the iOS 6 IPSW that fits your A4-powered iPhone, iPad, or iPod and install.
2) Follow these instructions for downloading Cydia as offered by Jailbreak Nation
a) Find your device's IP address by clicking the disclosure button on your network in Wi-Fi settings
b) Type into Terminal on Mac or cmd prompt on Windows(Windows tip: If Command prompt doesn't work for you try putty) "ssh root@
c) If prompted about authentication, type "yes" and hit enter.
d) When asked for a password, type "alpine" and hit enter.
e) Once you have connected to your device, type or paste this command into Terminal. wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh
f) Once this completes, repeat steps 7 and 8 once again to boot tethered, and you should have a working install of Cydia on your device.
Good luck jailbreaking your A4 iPhone, iPad or iPod with iOS 6 and let us know how it works. If you have any trouble with the written instructions above, here is also a video provided courtesy of Jailbreak Nation.
