On Thursday afternoon Cyril, aka @pod2g, revealed the name of a new Dev Team working the iOS 6, 6.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5/4S and other non-jailbroken devices. The team is comprised of faces we all know, but unfortunately some have yet to get their due recognition. It is for this reason Cyril spoke to me today, asking for help to recognize the men who are really behind the jailbreak which should be coming down the pipelines very soon now. Cyril aka @pod2g confirmed today that the team has all the pieces necessary for the iOS 6 jailbreak and with any luck, 6.1 as well.

"6.0 is jailbroken, 6.1 beta 4 also. Now we are waiting 6.1 to confirm and release."

Of course this is excellent news but contain your excitement for holes at this point can still be patched by Apple while we are awaiting the 6.1 release.

So just a little after lunch time Thursday, @pod2g tweeted a message that got everyone's attention -- an official announcement of the iOS 6, 6.1 jailbreak team members and the new team's name.

"We (@pod2g @MuscleNerd @planetbeing @pimskeks) are the @evad3rs. We don't take any donations ATM, please don't be fooled at donating to others."

Though comprised of familiar faces from the past, the new iOS security team created in a near whirlwind is hoping to show what great things can happen when like minds get together for a common cause.

So what about that name Evad3rs? Where did it come from? According to @pod2g,

"We came to it speaking of prison, jail, then hey, we are Evad3rs"

And like evaders we will all feel when the iOS 6, or 6.1 untethered jailbreak for iPHone 5/4S is finally announced.

According to Cyril, aka @pod2g, there are two leading men on this jailbreak and incidentally, he's not one of them!

So Who is Responsible for the Working iOS 6, 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 5/4S?

"For your information and this is important to me that everybody knows about it also, this jailbreak will be @planetbeing and @pimskeks."

Yes, for this go around Cyril says it is these two fellows' tireless efforts that should be given praise.

"I arrived at the end, gave ideas that pushed them to their maximum, I kinda unblocked the situation, but it would certainly have happened without me helping."

A noble admission considering out of all the developers on the newly formed Evad3rs team, he is the one who has amassed the largest group of followers.

When I asked Cyril what role he has played in the upcoming iOS 6 jailbreak for iPhone 5, here is what he said.

"Now I am helping as much as I can in terms of communication, websites, and also development, but I was not involved the same way as previous, focused on my work and all... Yes, in order @planetbeing, @pimskeks, then me."

At this point I am unsure of what role @MuscleNerd plays though rest assured it is an important one. As @pod2g revealed in an earlier interview with iDownloadBlog's Sebastien Page, @MuscleNerd was a key contributor to the iOS 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 jailbreaks released in the previous year. So yet again, here is a figure it seems did not receive the credit due him for the work he has done on the most recent jailbreaks.

For now though, @pod2g really wants you to know that @pimskeks and @planetbeing are the two who should be recognized as it was their effort which brought the iOS 6, 6.1 jailbreak to where it is today -- nearly ready for release!

When discussing the modesty of @planetbeing, Cyril reiterated to me once more that it is he, along with Nikias, aka @pimskeks, that greatful fans need to keep in the forefront.

"He [planetbeing] is completely the man on that particular jailbreak. It is his work, like it was mine on previous 2 / 3 ones."

Good to see credit given where it is due, eh? Still, regardless of his selfless admission, I imagine he's played a larger role than he lets on. After all, we've been in deadlock for months, and he has one week on the job and things are just about wrapped up.

The Future Of Jailbreaking: Will There Be a Hack For iOS 7?

Incidentally another interesting tidbit that slipped out, which I know will please many of you, was this forecast for the future of jailbreaking. According to @pod2g the team has made progress for future jailbreaks.

"When trying to help them, I found other vulnerabilities, but we won't use them for that jailbreak. Next one certainly ..."

So if you didn't catch that, read it once more. The man said "the next one." For all of you afraid the jailbreak scene is about to die off, don't be. There's still quite a bit of hope left on that stage for the iPhone 5S or 6 as well as iOS 7 when it launches.

Well, this is all I have to say really. As always, remain patient, remain hopeful and look for the 6.1 GM. What you are wishing for won't lag too far behind it.
