An iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak download has finally been achieved! While the Evad3rs decided to wait until a major release before they work on another hack, other developers have decided to pick up the slack. The latest iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak development comes from wincom. The dev recently came to iDownloadblog with their working iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak giving hope to those of us who might've mistakenly upgraded. The cool kids out there making use of Apple's latest iOS 7 betas will still have to wait a bit until a jailbreak for those versions are released.
While the fact that wincom has achieved this jailbreak is great news, the dev hasn't said however when he'll be releasing the jailbreak. Having the iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak be made public like this however is still great -- with wincom coming to the blogosphere with his findings likely means he plans on releasing to the public. It is unfortunate that the jailbreak comes at a time when iOS 7 is right around the corner, but we really can't complain. Jailbreaks who are holding off on updating to Apple's newest OS this fall but updated to 6.1.3 on accident way back when can now have the most stable version of iOS jailbroken.
Many are wondering why the Evad3rs didn't take it upon themselves to create an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak on their own -- since they released they jailbroke iOS 6 originally. The team was reported saying they wanted to wait for a more major release knowing Apple would just get rid of their hard work with each new update. With iOS 7 becoming available soon, the team decided scrambling to beat Apple wouldn't be worth the effort and would just wait until this fall. Luckily we've got wincom to pick up the job.
First one to guess how I did this /correctly/ wins a cookie. ;P pic.twitter.com/pAgKwWb9yH

iDownloadblog was lucky enough to play with the upcoming iOS jailbreak. We didn't see much in the video they posted, but showing us Cydia was enough to convince us that the iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak does indeed work on that version. The site's impressions were positive,
"After all, this is the same developer that worked on an iOS 6.x downgrade, the jailbreak tweak Accentify, and has had various other contributions to the community. Needless to say, when he announced that he had an untether binary that still needed a bit of work, my ears perked up...A few days ago, winocm reached out to iDB about his progress on the jailbreak. Although the project is still knee deep in its development phase, he did allow us to go hands on with some of his work. Today, with the help of winocm, I was able to install Cydia on my iPhone 4S running 6.1.3. If we're ever going to see a proper tool released for the iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak, he just could be the developer to do so...It's a good start, but that's coming from a lay person whose intelligence when it comes to this stuff reaches a plateau fairly early in the game. Winocm is a ridiculously smart individual, so I wouldn't be surprised if he did eventually release something to the public. I just wouldn't be surprised if he didn't, either."
Some have speculated on Twitter that wincom will release the iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak download following the availability of iOS 7. This may not be the worst idea: once iOS 7 is released, Apple is less likely to release a 6.1.5 update for example -- with the company assuming everyone is on the latest version. Then again Apple can do literally whatever they want with it being their operating system and all.
While an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak is much appreciated, we're really excited to see what could happen on an iOS 7 jailbroken device. Even though installing the update reverted our phone back to a stock device, we're fairly certain the jailbreak community will come to the rescue and free our 7 devices in the coming future. As usual we'll keep you posted as to new jailbreak news for both versions.
[UPDATE 9.18.2013] A video of the iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak has shown up on video! There are a couple of glitches it seems like. While no release date has been firmly set, this certainly gives us hope. Watch the video below!
