Christmas is nearly here and still we have no iOS 6 or 6.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad Mini and other non-jailbroken devices. However, today an update was announced to the iOS 6 systems, iOS 6.0.2, which is said to fix pesky Wi-Fi problems users have been experiencing on iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Though it is quite tempting to download the upgrade as it has been over two months of waiting for the iOS 6 jailbreak to surface, still, iPhone Dev-Team member @MuscleNerd continues to advise jailbreak hopefuls, to remain at 6.0 or below whilst awaiting a jailbreak.
Remember!JBers should always avoid updates (like 6.0.2 being offered to some devices today) to improve chances of using any future JB

As you may or may not know, however, one thing you should be doing while waiting for an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak to surface is saving your SHSH blobs, as Apple is pretty swift about closing signing windows as new updates come out. Now, once again, this update only applies to iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, so those are the only devices which need to save blobs for this update. All others Apple devices, this post does not apply to you!
However, for those with iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, you can utilize some very nice tools like Redsn0w provided by the iPhone Dev Team or, once updated, Tiny Umbrella, to retrieve the most current blobs--even if this is not the system you are running. These blobs can be saved regardless of if your device is jailbroken or not, so those awaiting an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini are eligible.
As a general rule, it's a really good idea to save all blobs along the way--particularly if you are looking for a future JB, upgrade, or downgrade using those blobs. For those of you who tend to be procrastinators, don't wait too long to do this. Apple has already released the 4th iOS 6.1 beta for testers, which says to me its release won't be too far away. With the shortened signing window Apple is now providing after new iOS updates releases, you would hate be be caught trying to save the day 6.1 releases, only to find the window has been closed.
Here are the instructions for saving your blobs using either the iPhone Dev Team's Redsn0w tool (recommended) or Tiny Umbrella (not yet updated--will post when it is)
Once again, you do NOT have to be jailbroken or on a particular system to save those blobs as long as Apple is still signing them, so save away!
