GWAR vocalist Dave Brockie AKA Oderus Urungus was found dead Sunday March 23, 2014 in his apartment by a roommate. The founder and lead singer of the controversial metal band GWAR was 50 years old when he was discovered dead in his Richmond Virginia home. Many within the online communities of Twitter and Facebook are having trouble believing the man has truly passed, thinking the GWAR lead singer death may be a hoax. However, the reports are true. While details of the singer's passing including cause of death, net worth and heirs are still developing, listed below is what has been learned so far. We will continue to update this post as more information is learned.
Dave Brockie of Gwar Found Dead: What Happened To Oderus Urungus And Who Was There?
As was first reported by a local Richmond new source, Style Weekly, Dave Brokie was found dead in his Richmond Virginia apartment by his roommate and former bandmate Sunday afternoon. According to TMZ, Brokcie was sitting upright in a chair when his roommate found him. It is estimated that the GWAR front man died somewhere between the hours of 3pm and 7pm that day. Authorities called on the metal singer's band manager, Jack Flanagan, to identify the body. Flanagan confirmed that the person found dead was in fact GWAR lead singer Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus. Here is a statement by Flanagan concerning the singer's death.
"It is with a saddened heart, that I confirm my dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of GWAR passed away at approximately 6:50 p.m. EST Sunday, March 23, 2014 ... His body was found Sunday by his bandmate at his home in Richmond, VA. Richmond authorities have confirmed his death and next of kin has been notified. A full autopsy will be performed. My main focus right now is to look after my bandmates and his family. More information regarding his death shall be released as the details are confirmed."
Dave Brockie Cause Of Death: Were There Drugs Or Foul Play Involved?
While details of the GWAR singer's cause of death are still being gathered, at this point police do not suspect any foul play. Police arrived at Brockie's apartment Sunday evening after a call from Brockie's roommate. A full and official autopsy are being performed and results from the medical examiner are expected later this week. Here is a statement from Richmond Police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh concerning the GWAR lead singer's death.
"At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Sunday, Richmond Police were called to a residence in the 4800 block of West Seminary Avenue for a report of a deceased individual. When officers arrived, they found David M. Brockie, 50, deceased inside the home."
According to TMZ, authorities are also currently ruling out suicide as there was no note left. Brokcie was simply found dead in a chair, in an upright position.
Of course some around the web are speculating that the cause of the singer's death could have been from drug overdose, as the band was known for heavy drug use. After the untimely death of another GWAR band member guitarist Cory Smoot aka Flattus Maximus on November 3, 2011 at age 34 years old, many of the band memebers at the time assumed the cause of death would be named as drug overdose, when in fact the man had died from a heart attack. The same may be revealed as the cause of death fro Dave Brockie as well, but at this time, nothing has been confirmed.
Davie Brockie Net Worth: How Much Was The GWAR Singer's Net Worth And Are There Any Family Members To Inherit?
At time of death, the 50 year old GWAR singer, Dave Brockie's net worth was unknown. There are no record online or elsewhere to state currently how much money or assets the man may have accumulated or what his approximate net worth might be. Brockie was a single man at the time of his death had know wife or children as heirs to whom he could will his possessions. As the story develops, more should be known about the GWAR vocalist's net worth.
