GTA 5 Release Date PC, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 720: Grand Theft Auto V is set to debut on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 17 and IGN got a sneak peek at the game last week. Read on for more GTA 5 release date news and spoilers.
The GTA 5 release date won't arrive until September 17, 2013, but Rockstar and parent company Take Two are preparing to release three new trailers this Tuesday. Each video will focus on one of the three main characters (Franklin, Marshall and Trevor). UPDATE: The NEW GTA 5 trailers are here and you can watch them in our full report.
As soon as the new trailers go live online the GTA 5 release date spoilers will begin to flow from IGN, which reports that they got a special visit from Rockstar Games last week:
It's been a while since we've heard any new news about Grand Theft Auto V, but Rockstar dropped by San Francisco this week and invited us on a new tour of Los Santos. We can't say anything about it quite yet, but we wanted to let you know we'll be posting all-new details about GTA V included mission impressions on Thursday, May 2, at 9:00am Pacific / 12:00 noon Eastern / 4:00pm Greenwich Mean Time.
Rockstar will also be releasing three new trailers focusing on the main characters next week. The trailers will go live some time on Tuesday, April 30th. Rockstar hasn't confirmed the exact time yet, but our guess is it will be early in the morning, so we're tentatively planning to start streaming at 7:30am PT / 10:30am ET / 2:30pm GMT. Note that the time is subject to change, but we'll let you know if it does.
The GTA 5 release date for PS3 and Xbox 360 is firmly cemented at September 17 2013 (despite early claims that the game would launch this spring). However, we still don't know when a port will arrive on the next-generation of consoles. That makes sense for the PS4 and Xbox 720 whose launch is still unannounced, but what about the Wii U? Nintendo's next-gen system hit stores last year with the promise of bringing hard-core gaming franchises like Grand Theft Auto to the NIntendo platform. And what about patient PC users hoping to unleash their superior processing power on GTA 5?
The GTA 5 release date for PC, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 720 is still a mystery, but news continues to trickle in, suggesting that an official announcement from Rockstar could be in the works. Society&Religion has been leading the charge with a series of rumors and reports surrounding the controversial Grand Theft Auto: V launch.
In a recent article published last week, S&R staff argues that the GTA 5 release date for PC and PS4 could arrive at the same time, likely by the end of the year. The writer argues that "we're either going to see a very quick port or that they've been working on the next generation version for GTA V for quite some time."
In the end, S&R believes that the GTA 5 release date for PS4 and PC will definitely arrive by the end of the year, noting, "it's just a matter of what Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have been prioritising as their main focus," and adding that a PC version won't be far behind once the game hits the next-gen Playstation, thanks to Sony's new hardware.
Of course, it's impossible to accurately predict the GTA 5 release date for PC, PS4, Wii U and Xbox 720, but S&R believes that official news from Rockstar can't be far away, concluding that "nevertheless at the moment it seems quite likely that both a PC port and a PS4 version of the game will be announced very, very soon."
Why harp on the GTA 5 release date for PC? Here's Society and Religion's explanation:
"It's a bit of a no-brainer to pick the PC platform over PS3 and Xbox 360.
"You pay a premium for a PC because you get a much better experience.
"As someone previously mentioned, why resort to horrible textures, models, resolution and aliasing just to get the game a few weeks or months earlier? Buying a console would involve:
"Shelling out £200-300 on a console which will become obsolete within a year. Then shelling out £40-50 on GTA 5 for the console, as well as £30-40 on the PC version when it comes out.
"In conclusion, you're spending hundreds just to acquire a game a bit earlier than those who aren't impatient. What will that get you? - sub par graphics which look horrible compared to PC."
Last week we reported that the GTA 5 release date for PC, PS4, Wii U and Xbox 720 could be announced shortly at an investors call held by Take Two Interactive on May 16, according to Examiner.
Will the GTA 5 release date for PC, PS4, Wii U and Xbox 720 be revealed next month? Take Two has used the investors call as a launch pad for big news in the past and this is certainly an announcement that gamers are very eager to hear. We're definitely holding out hope that we'll know when Grand Theft Auto: V will arrive on all the systems by the end of May.
Meanwhile, InEntertainment published an article arguing that the GTA 5 release date for PC, PS4, Wii U and Xbox 720 will arrive before the end of 2013, though they do note that they are keeping their "fingers crossed" until some real news surfaces:
"While the GTA V release date is scheduled for the 17th September gamers can expect the next-gen versions to arrive later this year, although we are unsure how long after the new consoles launch.
"Considering the gap between instalments Grand Theft Auto games are very popular and GTA 5 on next-gen consoles will be an ideal way to branch out in sales with a multi-platform title that could attract many gamers to the new systems."
