The 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x4 SuperCrew (what a mouthful) that was used to troll around the former president's Texas ranch was donated to benefit a charity that serves U.S. military families.
All proceeds from the sale go to Fisher House Foundation, which provides no-charge temporary housing for the families of military members being treated for injuries.
Bush had purchased the truck new in Tucson, Arizona, shortly after ending his term as president.
The auction listing didn't state how many miles were on the odometer but I could only imagine it was low seeing that it was only used to drive around in President Bush's Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.
"I haven't driven on a street in many, many years, but I have been able to drive this truck on my ranch," Bush said.
Retail on a used, low mileage 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4x4 SuperCrew is around $28,000 and despite the truck actually selling for $300,000, President Bush was expecting it to be sold at least $300,000 more.
Fox News stated that Barrett-Jackson sold a New Holland tractor owned by Jay Leno and signed by George W. Bush for $535,000 and predicted that the former President's Ford would sell for much more.
"Will the Ford F-150 top that number? Our guess is yes, and by quite a large margin."
So why did it only sell for half of what was predicted? Does no one appreciate the history behind this political memorabilia item? I'm actually surprised Don McDowell (the man who bought the 300 pound Romney sign) didn't scoop this little number up. Jay Leno tried pumping the crowd up for the auction, but I guess not even he could excite the crowd enough to reach $600,000.

"Let's start with the George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck. I really am having a hard time knowing whether its the car George Bush used or one specially made in his honor. It was sold for only $300,000. This clearly shows how even the Americans don't like him."
