The Galaxy Note 3 release date is expected to arrive in September 2013 (around the same time Apple launches the next iPhone), but it looks like Samsung is preparing to sneak in another phablet, reportedly called the "Mega," first. What does this mean for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date and screen size? Read on for more info, specs, features and rumors.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date was supposed to be the next big mobile device launch for the South Korean tech giant, but a recent report from SamMobile suggests that the company is looking two expand their popular line of phablets with a new line of oversized smartphones allegedly titled Galaxy Mega.

The Samsung-obsessed news-site with a good track record when it comes to mobile scoops claims two different versions of the the "Mega" will hit stores ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 release date. Here's their official report:

Big, bigger, biggest, mega, the new Galaxy Mega smartphones are upcoming. Samsung changed the name of their expected Galaxy Fonblets and they are now called Galaxy Mega. Samsung wants to introduce 2 smartphones with big displays. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 code named GT-I9152. This code directly hints on a big DUOS smartphone based on Android with a display size of 5.8". The other expected mega device is the Galaxy Mega 6.3 code named GT-I9200. The display of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is expected to be 6.3", this display size was previously rumoured for the Galaxy Note III.

So before the Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives this September we'll likely see the 5.8-inch Mega launch somewhere between May 27 and June 2 and the larger 6.3-inch model hit stores during the week of June 17, according to Sam Mobile.

"The Galaxy Mega 5.8-inch is rumored to be the GT-I9152 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3-inch is rumored to be the GT-I9200," notes Gotta Be Mobile.

So what does Samsung's new Mega phablet mean for the Galaxy Note 3 release date and screen size. While the device's launch is still assumed to be set for the IFA tech expo in Berlin this September, the display in now up in the air, with previous rumors possibly thrown out the window thanks to the latest news.

Previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 release date would deliver a 6.3-inch phablet (or possibly a 5.9-inch device) to Samsung consumers. GottaBeMobile has three suggestions:

1) The Galaxy Note 3 display size is similar to the Galaxy Mega devices, either 5.9-inches or 6.3-inches.

2) The Galaxy Note 3 display size stays at 5.5-inches like the Galaxy Note 2.

3) The Galaxy Note 3 display size is something completely different, something that hasn't been rumored.

We'd add a third (and far more likely) option: Based on the standard for growth set by the 2-inch jump from the original Note to the current model we'd argue that Samsung will follow this pattern with the Galaxy Note 3 release date and introduce a 5.7-inch phablet.

How do we know that the Galaxy Note 3 release date will be announced by Samsung at the IFA expo conference? Again, SamMobile was the first to break the news. Confirming earlier rumors, SamMobile reports that the the upcoming 3rd-gen phablet will be unveiled at Berlin-based tech expo IFA 2013 in early September. The article also claims that the South Korean tech giant will reveal their latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3, at the same event.

"Our insider even reported that Samsung may announce the Galaxy Tab 3 in IFA Berlin together with the Galaxy Note III," SamMobile claimed. "He couldn't tell anything about the specifications yet but he even reported that Samsung will stop to update the first generation of the Galaxy Tab."

Recent reports corroborated the rumors that the Galaxy Note 3 release date would arrive in in late Q2 or early Q3, meaning late July or early September. Based on this information, Android Geeks put forward a strong argument for an IFA launch:

"Since the latest reports are showing that Apple will set the iPhone 5S release date for June, we might even see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in flesh at IFA Berlin 2013 held between September 6 to 11. Or maybe Samsung will unveil its next-gen tablet in a separate event (just like it did with the Galaxy S3) a week before IFA Berlin, so all the media will be focusing on their new release."

That's all the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date news for now, but read on for all the specs and features rumors we've rounded up so far.

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie In Time For The Galaxy Note 3 Release Date?

Will the Galaxy Note 3 release date be the first Samsung smartphone to feature Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS out-of-the-box? The answer is looking more and more like a solid yes. Google is likely to upgrade their popular mobile operating system around the same time Apple unveils their latest version of iOS for iPhone and iPad. Meanwhile, SamMobile's inside source even hints that "Samsung's high range Android device's will receive Android 5.0."

Wireless Charging For The Galaxy Note 3 Release Date?

Once the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives what new specs and features can we expect? One of the latest rumors suggests that the third generation phablet could feature a wireless charging station.

Multiple leaks have previously surfaced, confirming that Samsung's engineers are working around the clock to develop a wireless charger ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 release date. Our latest source for the rumored feature is a video of the new technology filmed at FCC.

Exynos 5 Octa Processor For The Galaxy Note 3 Release Date?

With the Galaxy Note 3 release date approaching it may prove to be American smartphone owners' best and only opportunity to get their hands on a device that features the impressive 8-core Exynos 5 Octa Processor under its hood. While the international version of Samsung's Galaxy S4 features the beefed up processor, the US version comes with a measly quad-core Qualcomm chip.

We're still crossing our finger and hoping that once the Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives the phablet's massive size will make the Exynos 5 Octa processor a necessity worldwide. Don't get to excited, after Samsung decided to separate between American and non-American models of their the S4 with different processors it's possible that the same unfair division will arise for the new phablet as well.

Earlier this year at CES 2013, Samsung teased both the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 release dates during a presentation focusing on the new processor. Watch it here:
