UPDATE: We've heard back from Bandai Namco, who confirmed they plan to release the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta costume in North America, too. According to a company representative, the new costume will be included in Dragon Ball Xenoverse DLC 3 when the add-on heads to PSN, Steam and Xbox Live.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse continues to be one of the most-popular fighting games of 2015, defying the expectations of those who thought the franchise only appealed to a niche audience, and the latest word out of Japan is that some free content is currently being distributed to Dragon Ball Xenoverse players.

Bandai Namco is currently distributing a small add-on for Dragon Ball Xenoverse, one which doesn't include a price tag or any other tangible cost for the DBX community. The new Dragon Ball Xenoverse content offers an extra goodie, from the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F movie, in the form of Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta's newest armor set.

The new Dragon Ball Xenoverse DLC is being distributed via a platform-specific promotional code on the game's website, spotted by Shonen Gamez; however, the code only seems to work for Japanese players and/or those who imported a copy of Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Despite a handful of workaround claims, multiple member of the iDigi staff have been unable to redeem the code for this week's free Dragon Ball Xenoverse DLC .

On the plus side, there's no reason to think the content won't be released to North American users in the near future. The Japanese and English versions of the game have been mirror-images of one another since launch, save for the handful of hours when Dragon Ball Xenoverse DLC 2 was available in Japan before hitting the North American PSN and Xbox Live servers. So it's always possible that Bandai Namco is simply waiting until Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F is available in North America before releasing the new Dragon Ball Xenoverse content.

We've reached out to Bandai Namco, hoping to learn more about the company's plans for the new Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta costume, and will update this post if/when we learn more.

Be sure to check back with iDigitalTimes.com and follow Scott on Twitter for additional Dragon Ball Xenoverse coverage throughout the remainder of 2015 and for however long Bandai Namco continues to publish new Dragon Ball Xenoverse content in the months ahead.

What do you think of the new Dragon Ball Xenoverse freebie? Hoping to see Bandai Namco release the new Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta costume in North America? Not especially concerned with the new Dragon Ball Xenoverse add-on?
