The "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special spoilers are starting as the two hour special draws closer. The "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special will air to UK viewers through ITV on December 25, 2013 with the title "The London Season". The "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special takes place in the summer of 1923 and will focus on the Crawley family as they are in London for Rose to finally have her debutante ball. Meanwhile Martha Levinson, Cora's mother and her brother Harold are coming over to the UK, something the Dowager Countess isn't pleased about. On top of that it looks like the Crawley family will end up in Buckingham Palace in the midst of a Royal scandal. UK viewers will get to see the episode ITV1 on Christmas Day at 8:30 pm.

The "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special spoilers reveal that Rose will finally have her coming out in London, at 21 she is rather old for it, but better late than never. The "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special starts in the middle of the summer with Rose's coming out taking place in Buckingham Palace. Rose has already flirted with scandal before, particularly with her fling with Jack Ross which Mary put an end to. She could easily start some trouble with the monarchy. The "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special episode is set after King George V has changed the family name from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor. According to the ITV the Christmas special will involve the Crawley family, the House of Windsor, the Palace and "a scandal which threatens to engulf the British monarchy." We have a sneaking suspicion that perhaps Rose might be at fault here. Lord Grantham will be forced "to protect both the royal family and his own." According to preview pictures it looks like Rose might actually be behaving as she is seen curtsying before King George V and Queen Mary while wearing a white gown and matching gloves according to NY Daily News. So clearly perhaps it could also have something to do with Edith or Lady Mary.

In the "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special spoilers it looks like the episode will be drawing heavily on history. The historical figures that will appear in the episode are King George V, Queen Mary of Tech, Prince Edward, the Prince of Wales and Prince Albert. The scandal may having something to do with Prince Edward who became King Edward VIII and then abdicated allowing Prince Albert to become King George VI, the father of the modern day Queen Elizabeth II. The casting for these historical figures has also been settled with Guy Williams playing King George V in the Christmas special episode and Oliver Dimsdale as Prince Edward.. The filming will not be taking place at Buckingham Palace but at Lancaster House and Basildon Park in Berkshire. That seems a pity since this could have been a good opportunity to showcase some of the historical setting and architecture. Other locations include Goldsmith College and West Wittering beach in Sussex.

In "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special spoilers it looks like the entire Crawley household, including many of the servants are moving to London for the summer. The summer will be a fairly busy time as the family has to prepare for Rose's debutante ball and her presentation to Buckingham Palace. The family and the servants will be staying in Grantham House, the Crawley residence in London to prepare. At the same time it looks like an American element will be involved as Martha Levinson travels to England from New York and brings with her playboy son and Cora's brother Harold who just used Lord Grantham's help to escape an oil bribery scandal. It's possible that the of them may also be involved in the scandal that threatens to envelope the Royal family, according to UnrealityPrimetime, "Both outspoken and larger-than-life, they make quite an impression amongst certain members of London's high society, in particular with Lord Aysgarth, who is enthralled by the pair."

In other "Downton Abbey" season 4 Christmas special spoilers Meanwhile the other big issues being faced by the characters includes Edith's pregnancy. It will start showing soon and she still hasn't made a decision about how to handle it. Also, according to spoilers, Cousin Isobel has a male admirer. Is it Doctor Clarkson or someone else? Daisy, who is just starting to get over Alfred, receives a surprising and unexpected invitation. It's possible that it could be Alfred and that we may start to see a romance between them. For those who have forgotten, there's an excellent "Downton Abbey" season 4 finale recap by the Mirror here. Finally, it looks like Carson actually treats the staff to a day trip, which seems oddly out of character for him.
