Just a couple of months after the Wall Street Journal claimed an unknown number of Marvel and Star Wars characters would appear in the next iteration of Disney Infinity, it seems we have confirmation that said report was indeed accurate, thanks to a new Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition teaser from Marvel.

While few likely expected confirmation of the next Disney Infinity to emerge from any company, other than Avalanche Software and/or Disney Interactive, a new trailer from Marvel Entertainment let the '2.0 Edition' cat out of the bag on Tuesday afternoon. There's still been no word from Disney or Avalanche on the matter, but it's hard to imagine Marvel simply making up a Disney Infinity release, especially now that the company is part of the ever-growing Disney family.

Officially titled "Get Ready To Assemble", the world's first apparent glimpse of Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition shows Captain America's shield ricocheting its way through several of the worlds already introduced to the Disney Infinity franchise. Though there's no telling what other characters might appear in the game, the title of the trailer certainly seems to imply we can expect some combination of The Avengers (as they appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) to be included in Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition whenever the newly-announced project heads to store shelves.

Of course, as huge Disney Infinity fan myself, I can hardly contain my excitement about the potential that today's announcement offers. Sure, we might only get Captain America, Iron Man and the rest of the (movie) Avengers right now, but who else from the Marvel and Star Wars universes might make the jump next?
