It feels a little premature to be talking about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release date since, you know, we haven't even had a Call of Duty: Ghosts release yet, but most gamers know that Activision likes to crank COD games out faster than the Flash, so we shouldn't be surprised that there is a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release date leak already. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release date news comes courtesy of a LinkedIn profile belonging to Rob Valdivia.
So it appears from Valdivia's profile that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is in the works. It is a bit of a surprise since many people were assuming that THIS year's COD game would be Modern Warfare 4 and not a new entry in the series, Call of Duty: ghosts. It seemed idle speculation earlier this year was at least somewhat correct because this (somewhat) confirms that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is in development. And, since we get a COD game every year, it's safe to assume that next year's installment in the better-sell-$1 billion-or-else franchise will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
And, judging by the LinkedIn profile, it's going to have "photo real visual effects" too. This almost certainly implies a next gen version is in development, but it'll be interesting to see if the Xbox 360 and PS3 will still be receiving new titles next fall or if they'll be phased out by then.
Unfortunately, there's no preview footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Rob Valdivia's website. His most recent project was the PS3 All-Stars Battle Royal, and he posted videos of the work he did.
Obviously nothing has been confirmed by Activision at this point, but Valdivia's profile has been taken off of LinkedIn so he's likely experiencing some sort of backlash for the slip-up. Hopefully he doesn't get in too much trouble, I doubt an unfamous VFX artist thought his LinkedIn profile would ever become a source for late breaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 news.
