It may not be filled with zombies or new multiplayer maps, but something tells us that gamers will still be able to find plenty of reasons to get excited about the latest Black Ops 2 DLC patch being pushed by Treyarch.

It's been more than a month since the last time that Black Ops 2 developer Treyarch released a major update for the game's balance and mechanics, though it would appear that the team was hard at work since returning from their holiday vacations. In a post on the official Black Ops 2 forums, a member of the dev team outlined a number of changes and updates which Activision and Treyarch began pushing out to Xbox 360 owners this weekend.

Prior to the release of this weekend's Black Ops 2 patch, those who wanted to stream their Call of Duty matches were forced to enter League Play matches to do so; however, Black Ops 2 players will now find that they can stream their public matches as well.

In addition to the live streaming changes, the latest Black Ops 2 DLC patch also delivered a treasure trove of game bug fixes and balance-improving changes for Xbox 360 gamers. Many Black Ops 2 players will be happy to know that it's no longer possible to earn credit towards Prestige Equipment via the use of "friendly" grenades and other explosives. A number of other weapon, movement, and UI fixes were included as well.

While this weekend's Black Ops 2 DLC patch is currently only being pushed to Xbox 360 owners, Treyarch has confirmed that the patch will be headed to the PlayStation 3 as well. There's no official word on the PC at this time, but it seems safe to say that an update of some kind will likely be delivered via Steam in the days/weeks ahead.

Today's update becomes the third officially announced set of additions for Black Ops 2 during the month of January. Last week, the Nuketown Zombies DLC finally debuted on PlayStation 3 and PC, and the "Black Ops 2" Revolution multiplayer map pack will be released on January 29. Of course, unlike those Black Ops 2 DLC packs, today's game update is available for download free-of-charge.

Head over to the official Black Ops 2 forums for the full list of changes.

Update: We finally have confirmation that the livestreaming patch is headed to PC as well. Everyone should have access to the new patch by 12pm EST according to Engadget.
