Rocksteady Studios' "Batman: Arkham Asylum," and "Arkham City" were hailed as two of the greatest superhero video games of all time, but can publisher Warner Bros. Interactive pull it off a third time? Earlier this year in February, Time Warner CFO John K. Martin announced during a Time Warner quarterly earnings call, that a yet-unamed "Batman: Arkham 3" was in the works. Unfortunatley, at the time, very little information was given on the announced "Batman: Arkham City" sequel. Will we see an "Arkham 3" release date soon? "What will "Batman: Arkham 3" even be called? New information from the official "Batman: Arkham City" Facebook page might give us a hint, as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has re-branded the page. We can only speculate that the "Batman: Arkham City" sequel will be released on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and potentially Mac, PS4 and Xbox 720.

Where did the most recent news of an "Arkham City" sequel come from? The "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City" fan website,, pointed out the exciting tidbit of re-branding efforts on the part of Warner Bros., noting that the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" Facebook page had been deleted, and that the "Arkham City" Facebook page had been renamed simply as "Batman: Arkham." This would imply that the franchise will likely keep "Arkham" in the titled for "Batman: Arkham 3." A release date remains unclear, but it is some assurance that Warner Bros is hard at work preparing for a "Batman: Arkham City" sequel. Matt Liebl at Gamezone has the scoop on the update:

The new Facebook page for the franchise is now simply called Batman: Arkham. Could this merger of both games into one group be Warner merely simplifying things for fans? Or is this part of something much bigger -- like perhaps the preparation of a third game?

Given the success of Arkham City, it's certainly not out of the question. And Time Warner CFO and chief administrative officer John K. Martine did recently suggest that a third game in the series would release in 2013. Although, it remains unclear if he was referring to the calendar or fiscal year.

Warner Bros. is currently working with NetherRealm Studios on Injustice: Gods Among Us, an upcoming fighting game featuring DC Comics' heroes and villains. What's interesting, though, is the photo Warner Bros. uploaded to the Batman: Arkham Facebook page once these changes were made. The new timeline picture shows Batman in front of a pole with writing that says: "You're next B-Man." Although this is a line from the game, could Warner be hinting that it's Batman's turn for a new game next? I certainly hope so!

Previously we reported on the proposed "Arkham 3" below:

The first two titles in the series, developed by London-based Rocksteady Studios, were both critical and commercial successes, with the second title, "Arkham City," winning a BAFTA award and recently being ported to Nintendo's new Wii U system. What is yet unknown about the upcoming game is whether Rocksteady Studios will lead its production (though it is likely, given the incredible success of the past two titles), and for what platforms the game will be made available. A late-2013 release could mean release on either current generation consoles, or potentially on next gen consoles like Playstation 4 and Xbox 720, given the rampant rumors surrounding a late-2013 release for both consoles.

Who will reprise their roles in the new Batman game? Joker, voice by the incredible Mark Hamill, took the lead as a main villain in the last game, and, given his wildly popular reception, it would seem logical for Hamill to reprise his role, though the former "Star Wars" leading man said otherwise.

"This will be my last, there's no question about that. But it's the last hurrah," said Hamill in an interview with IGN regarding his voice acting work on "Arkham City."

MTV's Splash Page later reported that Hamill solidified his farewell to playing Joker in the following tweet.

"Hello/Goodbye Joker! I've enjoyed every minute behind the wheel of the [Clown] Prince's crazy car -- I'm going to miss him more than I can say!!" -- Mark Hamill, @HamillHimself

In other, delectable Batman and DC Entertainment news, "Injustice: Gods Among Us," a new triple-A DC Universe-themed brawler, is slated for release this April in North America and Europe on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
