"Avengers: Age of Ultron" was revealed as the title for Marvel's "Avengers 2" during Comic-Con International 2013 at San Diego. Director Joss Whedon dropped the news about Ultron at a panel held on Saturday night.
The "Avengers: Age of Ultron" title reveals that the super villain of the upcoming 'Avengers' sequel is Ultron, an indestructible, sentient robot that is hell bent on the extermination of the human race.
Since the superhero Vision is central to the "Age of Ultron" storyline, the Android superhero could be a new addition to the Avengers, and Vin Diesel could be playing him.
"Marvel meeting today...Only the people in the room cab tell you what was discussed," Vin Diesel posted on his Facebook page two weeks ago, with a photo of the "Fast and Furious" star posing in front of a poster for the "Avengers".
Vin Diesel is very active on his Facebook page, posting glamor shots of himself paired with inspirational messages. As such, he currently has almost 45 million likes on his page. He credits the page for making the meeting with Marvel happen, as he posted, "Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen...you know I get tunnel vision with me work... and after that meeting today... wow!"
The buff actor fanned the Marvel rumors even more when he returned to Comic-Con on Friday for the first time in over a decade to talk about "Riddick". When a Comic-Con attendee asked Diesel about his vision for the upcoming Marvel movies. Diesel replied, "There is some very big news coming at the end of this month", per Entertainment Weekly. He added, "Poor Marvel. Poor, poor marvel".
Though there was no mention of Vin Diesel during The Marvel panel, Whedon confirmed that Scarlet Witch and her twin brother Quicksilver will be in "Avengers: Age of Ultron", per the Daily News.
Huffington Post noted that The Marvel panel at Comic-Con also featured Tom Hiddleston (in character as Loki,) a "Thor: The Dark World" trailer and appearances from "Captain America" star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro, and more.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is slated to be released May 1, 2015.
