3D Printshow New York kicks off following the buzz of New York Fashion Week 2014. The NYC event will run from February 12 through 15 and offer attendees a high-tech interactive experience. The four day event will feature the hottest in tech right now, from 3D printed fashion to the new Robocop armor to a bionic ear. To name a few. For those interested in cutting-edge modernizations in style, 3D Printshow New York will include a live catwalk show that showcases the convergence of fashion and tech.

The 3D Printshow New York runway show and fashion house, dubbed 3D Printshow: INSPIRE, includes some of the world's leading fashion designers and artists, their futuristic fashion pieces, live music and dance. These forward-thinking stylists have delved into the realm of technology, creating wearable 3D printed pieces that are bound to break the mold in fashion design.

Based on photos from earlier 3D Printshow catwalks, the styles are reminiscent of an avant-garde runway show from the future. If Karl Lagerfeld lived in the whimsical utopia of The Jetsons, I imagine like styles would be born. Thanks to the advances in technology, though, these imaginative flairs are already here. Come the 3D Printshow: INSPIRE event next week, supermodels will don 3D printed quixotic headdresses while strutting down the runway in complexly woven super pumps. While fashions crafted from 3D printing takes a forefront at the New York event, the catwalk will not be deficient in wearable tech fashion, which will also make a grand entrance during the fashion show.

Who are the masterminds behind these 3D printed fashion and wearable tech pieces? For the New York runway show this year, the lineup will include: Francis Bitonti, Bradley Rothenberg, Joshua Harker, Dorry Hsu, Pia Hinze, Kristin Neidlinger, Madeline Gannon, Kay Kwok and more. If the names don't ring a bell, some of their work likely will. Architect Rothenberg has gained recognition for his snowflake-inspired 3D printed bustier at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year. Neidlinger is the founder of SENSOREE, the design lab behind the mood sweater that changes colors depending on your disposition.

3D Printshow New York is a classic example of how the fashion and technology industries are uniting and bringing about cutting-edge styles. Whether or not these fashions will go mainstream is TBD. What's undeniable, though, is how innovations in 3D printing and wearable technology are shaping the way we view fashion. The catwalk will serve as an aperture into the movement that is fashion tech.

3D Printshow: INSPIRE is on Wednesday, February 12 at 10 p.m. at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York. Tickets are limited and available online.
