The Captain America: The Winter Soldier release date is now officially less than two months away. Are you getting excited yet? I'm a huge Captain America skeptic slash hater, but even I have to admit this boring movie season could be heated up with a little Marvel on Marvel action. Thankfully, that's just what we're going to get once April 4, 2014 rolls around. First, check out the latest Captain America 2 trailer:

Pretty dope Winter Soldier trailer, da? Da! The movie is the first release from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014 (the second is "Guardians of the Galaxy," due out on August 1). The first movie came out in 2011 and was... eh, okay. It was probably the worst of the Marvel movies since the second Hulk pic, but even so, it wasn't bad per se. It was just mediocre, and it had to set up the character and start with a flashback and all that. That's all out of the way now.

So will "The Winter Soldier" release date bring us the Captain America movie we deserve? It's a tough call. Point A against it: the villain is the titular Winter Soldier, who is not super cool, and tough to do right. Point B against it: the directors have barely even made a movie, let alone a good one. But don't worry too much about that... except for Joss Whedon, the directors of these movies play less of a role than Disney does. They don't pick their directors for no reason - they know what they're doing.

The biggest point in favor of "The Winter Soldier" release date is that Captain America, who is a total square, isn't the only main character. ScarJo, as Black Widow, is also a lead, and she is much more interesting than Chris Evans, and a much better actor. I have a feeling that she'll be carrying the movie, along with guest appearances by agent Maria Hill and by Nick Fury. Oh, also Robert Redford is in the movie, which won't be weird at all.

The "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" release date isn't too far away, and it'll continue the build up toward "The Avengers 2" that started with the release of "Thor: The Dark World," which was quite good, better than the first one. Let's hope "Captain America" 2 can live up to it. The "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" release date is April 4, 2014.
