Bruno Mars Super Bowl Half Time Show: Watch Video Of The Hottest Halftime Show Since Michael Jackson [HD VIDEO]
Bruno Mars' Super Bowl XLVIII half time show performance, featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers on February 2, 2014 may have been one of the hottest halftime shows to be performed since Michael Jackson burned up the stage in 1993. Starting slow and steady with a group of young kids hand in hand on the halftime show stage, singing the chorus of the artist's hit song, "Billionaire," fireworks stream across the sky as colored lights and a projected image of the American flag appear behind the chorus line.
The tempo soon picks up as the lights focus in on the solitary figure of Bruno Mars, sitting at the drums. With several perfectly timed strikes on the snare and symbols, the song changes to "Locked Out Of Heaven" as the musician enters into an amped up drum solo that gets the crowd going and ready for what this Super Bowl halftime performance will bring.
Moments later a five piece band of brass and strings parades on to the Super Bowl halftime performance stage and the party is well on its way as more popular tunes like the singer's hit "Treasure" were heard in the set. Things stayed hot throughout the halftime show with the crowd becoming increasingly more pumped as the Red Hot Chili Peppers explode onto the stage, adding to the excitement of the Bruno Mars halftime show with their "Give It Away" performance done entirely shirtless of course.
To close out the Superbowl XLVIII halftime show, a video was played featuring soldiers overseas while dedicating the last song, "Just the Way You Are," to loved ones anxiously waiting back at home. Bruno Mars belted out his final notes as once again, fireworks filled the arena and the show came to a close.
While many enjoyed the performance of Bruno Mars at the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII, still it's hard not to compare it against one epic Super Bowl performance of the past that electrified us all: The 1993 Super Bowl half time show performed by none other than king of pop Michael Jackson.
In the words of YouTuber akhila rao,
"This man [Michael Jackson] was and will always be just in another league. The involvement which he has is just beyond ... it's like he's so perfectly meant for that moment every time he performs. And LOOK at the power of his being to create a show that is beyond himself."
