Watch "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 online after it premieres on PBS Masterpiece on Sunday February 2, 2014 at 9pm ET.  The episode can be watched online (HERE) the night after it airs on TV. In "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 we can expect a major ongoing plot to be Bates trying to discover what has happened to Anna. It is possible this could be the episode in which he learns the truth. According to PBS "Downton Abbey" season 5 will also see Rose flirt with scandal due to her interest in Jack Ross, Mary clash with someone and Edith faces some trouble herself, according to the description, "Pride and prejudice mark Robert's surprise birthday party when Rose's potentially scandalous recruit raises eyebrows and Mary clashes with an instantly antagonistic man of the people. Bates and Anna step out, and Edith gets troubling news."

In "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 we will see Bates put pressure on Mrs. Hughes to find out why Anna has gone so far as to move out of their shared home together. Anna has chosen to move back to the house because she cannot bare to be touched by Bates and he cannot figure out why it is. Bates says to Mrs. Hughes that he will resign if he does not learn the truth about what happened to Anna,  "I will keep it up until you explain to me what has gone wrong between us. My life is perfect, and then in the space of one day it is nothing. To me, that requires an explanation." Mrs. Hughes finally relinquishes and tells Bates what happened to Anna, but she holds back that it was Green who committed the crime. Of course Bates strongly suspects if it was him and warns that when he finds out, "If it was the valet, he is a dead man." Clearly confirming Anna's fears that Bates will kill whoever was responsible for the rape. Nevertheless Mrs. Hughes telling Bates ends up being a good decision as Bates and Anna reconcile and move back in together. Bates puts her fears that he thinks her spoiled or unworthy to rest by saying, You are not spoiled. You are made higher to me and holier because of the suffering you have been put through." This clearly allows Anna to start to heal again after reconciling with Bates.

In "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 we will also see Rose increase her interest in Jack Ross who is of course black. The notion of an interracial relationship in the 1920's would have been scandalous at the time and possibly even illegal. Meanwhile we pick up after Lady Mary has rejected Lord Gillingham. She learns in talking to Cousin Isobel that he is now engaged to be married. To her credit Isobel tells her that she doesn't want Mary to be unhappy and if she wants to move on from Matthew and pursue a relationship it would not be wrong of her. Mary replies that she's not unhappy but she's not ready to be happy and move on just yet. Mary, Isobel and Branson end up talking about their relationships and helping each other through their grief. Still despite Mary's insistence that she doesn't want to strike up a relationship just yet, it seems in "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 she will see Lord Gillingham again and he will be bringing a socialist friend of his, Charles Blake whom she clashes with.

Downton Abbey Season 4, Episode 5 brings us to Bates gradually learning about the tragedy that happened to Anna- will there be retribution? Is Lord Grantham making intelligent decisions? Will things ever get better for Mosley, and will the mystery of who stole the letter opener be solved? And is a certain someone seeing mysterious London doctors pregnant?

In "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 we are introduced to another new character in the form of the new lady's maid Mrs. Baxter who will wait on Cora. It turns out that Thomas was the one to get Mrs. Baxter her job so that she could act as a spy for him both upstairs and downstairs. It's not quite clear what Thomas would do with that information with Miss O' Brien gone. His ability to cause trouble isn't what it used to be. Interestingly that's not the only issue with the servants, Alfred has gone to train at The Ritz to be a chef and it remains to be seen if he will be accepted. That's a potential soloution for Mr. Molesley's continued unemployment. If Alfred leaves he can be hired, provided his pride will allow it of course. The big issue we expect to see arise in "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 is between Edith and Gregson. He's gone to Germany to get citizenship and divorce his wife but Edith hasn't heard from him and is getting worried. She's also secretly arranged to go to a doctor in London raising suspicion that she might be pregnant. In which case she will be left with a dilemma about what to do. We will have to watch "Downton Abbey" season 4 episode 5 on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 9pm ET online to find out what happens.
