LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Release Date Confirmed: Late January Or Early February Lined Up For New OS Rollout [REPORT]
The Android 4.4 KitKat Update For The LG G2 Will Bring A Series Of Improvements Including Immersive Mode And Hangouts Messanger
The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date has been confirmed for late January or early February. The information came from the official account of LG Mobile Saudi Arabia and it confirmed that the Android 4.4 KitKat update release date for the LG G2 would begin to roll out worldwide towards the end of this month or early February at the latest, presumably depending on US carriers. The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update comes after South Korean LG G2 users have already gotten access to the update. A video has been posted on YouTube showing some of the anticipated features of the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the LG G2. It seems the tweet by LG Mobile in Saudi Arabia has been deleted but it read, "Good news for owners of phone LG # 2 in Saudi Arabia, you can copy the system updated to version KitKat at the end of this month January 2014."
Here you can see the recording I made of my LG G2 Kitkat on the U+ network in South Korea. I was trying to show that the G2 internet browser has fullscreen mode, unlike chrome, but the video recorder does not allow for landscape mode
The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date will be welcome if it comes at the end of this month since earlier reports had suggested that the LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update would be delayed till late Q1 of 2014, potentially as late as March. Of course depending on the speed of US carriers it might still be February before most US consumers have the Android 4.4 KitKat update on their devices. The Android 4.4 KitKat update won't bring all the interface and features we've seen on stock Android devices like the Nexus 5 or close to stock Android devices like the Moto X, but it should bring a wide array of improvements and changes to the LG custom UI.
The LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date will bring some of the same changes and improvements we've seen in the video from South Korea. The Android 4.4 KitKat update will bring things like Immersive Mode which allows full screen streaming of video and music, switch over from the default messenger to Hangouts, a different status bar and other features like Tap to Pay with Google Wallet, Cloud Printing and general overall improvements and tweaks which have made Android 4.4 KitKat one of the more efficient and responsive OS's out there.
Of course even with the Android 4.4 KitKat update, LG G2 users will still have to deal with the custom UI which will still look like Jelly Bean. It looks like the trend among non-stock Android devices is to keep the JellyBean interface. We've seen that the Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra and Droid Mini which are getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update also retain things like the JellyBean dialer. In the video the user is actually running Nova Launcher which allows for things like the transparent launcher, so don't expect Android 4.4 KitKat to make your device look like the Nexus 5. You'll still need apps for that, but significant speed and performance increases along with battery life improvement has been reported in devices running Android 4.4 KitKat so the update is still definitely worth it. This is particularly true for phones like the LG G2 and Samsung devices which have more resource intensive UI's compared to the sparing HTC Sense.
