Dragon Age 3: Inquisition hasn't received an official release date yet, but the current window is Fall 2014. Which is great news for fans of the franchise as well as fans of the RPG genre. Currently there are no RPGs available on either next-gen platform and a Dragon Age 3: Inquisition release date will certainly give fans an opportunity to see what kinds of magic and fantasy are possible on the PS4 and Xbox One. Including fantasies of a more, erm, adult variety.

The Dragon Age franchise has always featured a hefty dose of all-inclusive romance. Straight, gay or bisexual relationships are available for your party to explore and Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will be no different. But this time around BioWare is making sure that the romance is more than just carnal attraction and that the scenes themselves don't come across as cheap or tasteless.

"I think Mass Effect's scenes were done really well and I think we will take Inquisition's scenes in that direction," Cinematic director Jonathon Perry told GamerZines. "You might have a nude character but they are framed in such a way that parts of them are in shadow, or having characters in various states of undress. We also want to focus not just on the sex itself, but also that this is the culmination of spending a lot of time with a character and getting to know them, and so we're giving scenes a mature and tasteful treatment."

Gamefront reports that in-game dialogues during a recent demo revealed that the all-important relationships among party members, especially when it comes to romance, will be a big part of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. And, according to creative director Mike Laidlaw, the Dragon Age 3: Inquisition romance is just as much a part of the world as it is an influence on it.

"Your interactions aren't just, 'Hello, I'm here by my tent waiting for you,' but instead something that feels like an outgrowth of all your adventures together and the kind of things that you've been doing," he said.

So Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will still have plenty of romance, but what else can players expect on the Dragon Age 3: Inquisition release date? A lot of information about the game has been revealed this year and, I'm happy to report, all of it sounds pretty good.

My personal favorite is the news that there will be playable Qunari characters. In addition to their general badassery, I'm a big fan of the qunari because they represent a different approach to the typical RPG "ogre/troll" character. Qunari aren't lumbering fools or drunkards. They have a dignity and a reticence that I find captivating. I'm excited to see what kinds of character interactions occur in the game between my Qunari and the other races. In an interview with Gamefront, Bioware reps explained that the goal of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition is to create something bigger than one character or idea.

"Dragon Age isn't about any specific story, it's about the world," Bioware said. "It's large-scale concerns, fate of nations kind of stuff."

The interconnectivity will apparently not be self-contained within Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. Instead, players will be able to access a feature known as the Dragon Age Keep, a cloud-based game save system that will allow players to edit the history of the world they enter into and see how those choices impact the world of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition.

"Within the Keep, you'll be able to customize a Dragon Age historical world state to your exact specifications. How did you modify your Warden and Hawke? Who were your companions? Who did you choose to romance? Who rose to power, and who fell in defeat? What legacy did you leave? Within the Keep, you'll be able to customize as much or as little about the world of Thedas as you wish. Then you'll be able to import your saved world state into DAI at the start of a new game," executive producer Mark Darrah wrote in a blog post.

It's rumored that Dragon Age 3: Inquisition also includes a system that will import saves from DA 1 and 2, regardless of what console they're on. If that turns out to be false then at least fans will have the ability to alter the world through the Dragon Age keep to reflect the decisions they made in previous games. Or wish they made.

BioWare is developing the game on the ultra-powerful Frostbite 3.0 engine meaning it will be the best looking title in the series. And now, thanks to a YouTube leak, we have a look at 30 minutes of gameplay footage that was unveiled last month at the Finnish Digiexpo. Take a look:
