It's been a few weeks since we had anything exciting to report about State of Decay, now that the game's NPC companion system is up and running smoothly-- not to mention State of Decay's highly-successful Steam Early Access debut late last month -- but an upcoming flurry of content and bug fixes should be enough to get State of Decay fans salivating again.

Earlier this month, Undead Labs confirmed that there was a good chance the State of Decay: Breakdown DLC could be released before the end of October, and a similar timeline was put in place for the mouse and keyboard controls that many are waiting for before buying or spending any serious time with the Steam Early Access version of State of Decay. Now, the studio says that they not only plan to deliver mouse and keyboard support to the Steam build of State of Decay in the next few days, but are also putting the final touches on the fourth official title update for State of Decay since the game's launch back in June.

Unlike Title Update 3, which introduced State of Decay's NPC companion system, it is widely believed that State of Decay Title Update 4 will focus primarily on address both existing bugs and new issues that surfaced alongside the last major patch. Of course, we'd be shocked if Undead Labs didn't sneak a few new weapons or items into the game as well; however, there aren't any patch notes available to confirm that theory just yet.

Undead Labs community manager Sanya Weathers also confirmed that work is nearly complete on the promised mouse and keyboard support for the PC version of State of Decay, uploading a pair of screenshots to prove the progress being made. According to Weathers, State of Decay should have mouse and keyboard support by the end of the week, though snags could force Undead Labs to wait until early next week to release the next State of Decay patch.

Undead Labs also promises new information on all the team's latest developmental endeavors during the team's weekly State of Decay live stream, typically broadcast via Microsoft Studios' Twitch.tv channel, currently scheduled to take place on Friday instead of the usual Tuesday afternoon slot. It's unclear if that will include additional information on the upcoming State of Decay: Breakdown DLC, which could also debut before the end of October; however, we wouldn't be shocked to see the first official State of Decay DLC make an appearance in this week's live stream.

If you've got some spare time, and haven't had a chance to see the new State of Decay: Breakdown DLC content just yet, check out Undead Labs' previous Breakdown live stream, featuring a look at an alpha version of State of Decay: Breakdown running on the Xbox 360.
