Sony Xperia Z1 Release Date: Sony Confirms Flagship Codenamed ‘Honami’ Is Coming Soon In Teaser [REPORT]
Specs Of Phone Formerly Known As Sony Xperia i1 "Honami" Bleeding Edge Hardware
Sony Xperia Z1 release date has been confirmed. The phone was formerly known as the Sony Xperia i1 "Honami". It seems its official name will be the Sony Xperia Z1 and it will be the flagship successor to the Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The Sony Xperia twitter released a series of teaser images under the #bestofSony tag:
The Sony Xperia Z1 release date rumors for the "Honami" phone focused on its remarkably high-end specs which included a powerful 20-MP camera, Snapdragon 800 processor, 4K video, water resistant and dust resistant features. We now have a more complete idea of what we can expect from the Sony Xperia Z1 "Honami". Android Community reports the following specs and features, "a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 running at 2.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 3000 mAh battery, and to top it all off, a 20 megapixel camera. The Honami is also expected to come in black, white, and, interestingly enough, purple."
Sony Xperia Z1 specs and features are also expected to include the water resistant and dust resistant features present on both the Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The Sony Xperia Z1 is expected to have 16GB internal memory with the option of further expansion using a microSD card of up to 64GB. The Sony Xperia Z has a microSD card slot and Sony has generally been good about allowing the option for expanded memory. The OS is thought to be Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, though we anticipate it will shortly be updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, or it could wait until October to update to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Sony Xperia Z1 release date should be coming "not long now". The anticipated official reveal date and release date is expected around September 4th during IFA Berlin 2013 where Sony is expected to hold a press conference to announce the Sony Xperia 1.
The Sony Xperia Z1 is not the only flagship that is expected to have a release date in September, the new device will have to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max which are both expected around the same time. At this fairly late date in Q3 and Q4 the IFA Berlin 2013 event is important for companies. It is interesting to note that while other companies are releasing phablet devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max which are upwards of 5-inches, the Sony Xperia Z1 is the smallest device being released this quarter. The LG G2 by comparison has a 5.2-inch screen. Of course this may be because Sony already has a phablet on the market, the large Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
We will likely get more teasers from Sony as the release date of the Sony Xperia Z1 draws closer. It is a just a little over a week now till IFA Berlin 2013. We will keep you posted as we get more confirmed information on the Sony Xperia Z1 release date, specs, features and price.
Are you planning to buy the Sony Xperia Z1 when it's release date is officially announced?
