With the pop culture event of the year, San Diego Comic-Con, quickly approaching, Dark Horse Comics has made sure to allow for fans of the game -- and comics fans in general -- to enjoy a free preview of the first and second issue.

Also, Popcap and Dark Horse have created a special offer just in time for Comic-Con. For only 99 cents, iOS users can purchase the original Plants vs. Zombies game and receive the first issue of the comic for free.

With the creative team of Paul Tobin (Marvel Adventures, Falling Skies) and Ron Chan (The Guild, Husbands) joining forces, it should be a very fun read.

The official synopsis of the Plant vs. Zombie comic goes as such:

The confusing-yet-brilliant inventor known only as Crazy Dave helps his niece, Patrice, and young adventurer Nate Timely fend off a "fun-dead" neighborhood invasion in Plants vs. Zombies: Lawnmageddon!

"We're excited to see Plants vs. Zombies come to life as a comic book miniseries from one of the industry's coolest and most innovative publishers," said Jeremy Vanhoozer, Plants vs. Zombies franchise creative director at PopCap. "With Plants vs. Zombies Adventures recently launched on Facebook, Plants vs. Zombies 2 becoming available for iPads, iPhones, and iPod Touch devices later this summer, and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare shambling to market in spring of 2014, it's a great time to give the millions of Plants vs. Zombies fans around the world a new way to enjoy this beloved franchise."

The first two issues are available for purchase now with the final four issues going on sale for the next four weeks. A hardcover collection is set to go on sale in comic shops November 6 -- and on sale in bookstores November 19.
