Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs. Apple iPad 4 Size and Weight

In terms of portability, the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablet is the more lightweight choice. The dimensions of the Samsung tablet are 243mm by 176 mm by 8 mm, compared to the Apple iPad 4 size of 241 mm by 186 mm by 9.4 mm. While the Galaxy Tab 3 is ever so slightly longer than the iPad 4, it makes up for it with a narrower, thinner body. The 510g Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is also lighter than the 652g iPad 4 tablet, roughly 22 percent lighter. This could be in part because of its plastic build, while the Appple iPad is made of aluminum.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs. Apple iPad 4 Processor and Storage

The iPad 4 is powered by the dual-core A6X processor with quad-core graphics and 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab 3 features a 1.6 GHz Atom Z2560 CPU and also 1GB of RAM. Key differences between the two tablets here come in terms of storage. Apple gives customers more models to choose from with their iPad 4 tablets, including 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, on the other hand, only has 16GB and 32GB variants of the tablet. However, the Samsung tablet does support microSD cards for extra storage, which allows users to expand up to 64GB. Apple has yet to include a microSD slot in their tablet models.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs. Apple iPad 4 Display

Where the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 trumps the iPad 4 in portability, Apple takes the lead in tablet display. The 9.7-inch iPad 4 has a resolution of 1,536 by 2,048 pixels compared to the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3, with a screen display of 1,280 by 800 pixels. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs. Apple iPad 4 Battery and Software

The iPad 4 also comes out on top with a higher battery capacity than the Galaxy Tab 3. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 features 6,800mAh battery compared to the Apple iPad 4 with 11,666mAh battery. It's important to note the trade-off, in that the higher-resolution display of the iPad 4 can suck up a lot of battery life as well. In terms of software, both tablets use the latest software version. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 runs on Android 4.2 and includes Samsung's TouchWiz UI layered on top. The iPad 4 runs on the latest Apple iOS 6.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs. Apple iPad 4 Price

This is where the greatest divide occurs between the battling tablets. If price is a determining factor for a tablet customer, than the recently priced Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is a no brainer. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 starts at $399.99 compared to the Apple iPad 4, which starts at $499.99.
