HTC ‘M8’ Release Date Rumors: Will The Next-Gen HTC One Upgrade Be The 2014 Flagship? [REPORT]
HTC 'M8' Release Date, Specs, Price, Features And Other Rumors
The next-gen HTC One is codenamed the HTC M8 and it could have a release date of 2014. The HTC One has clearly been established as the flagship HTC device of 2013. The only other HTC devices we are likely to get this year are the HTC One Mini and HTC One Max in Q3 of 2013.
For reference, the HTC One was codenamed the HTC M7 prior to its official announcement as the HTC One. The HTC M8 will be an updated and upgraded version of the HTC One, which makes sense, why change what works?
Android Guys report the following HTC M8 release date rumors:
About the M8, HTC is already thinking about it and planning to come up with a different codename to keep it safe from the "hidden camera's eye". Though, the source said that "plans could be changed", so lets take this rumor with a grain of salt.
As they warn, nothing is official about the HTC M8 yet, but we can perhaps speculate on HTC M8 specs using the HTC One as a benchmark. Some sources report that the next-gen HTC M8 will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. We agree.
Given the HTC M8 release date of 2014 and the fact that there is a mad rush toward the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, HTC would be foolish not to use the Snapdragon 800 when rivals like Samsung (Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3), LG (LG Optimus G2, Nexus 5) and Sony (Sony Xperia Z Ultra) are all using it. Also take into account the history of HTC upgrades, with the previous generation HTC One X+ which boasted a Nvidia Tegra 3 1.7 GHz quad-core processor. The HTC One X+ also had expanded internal storage to 64GB, something we can likely also expect from the HTC M8 upgrade.
When it comes to HTC M8 design, we know that HTC usually isn't too keen on plastic bodies for flagships like Samsung is, so we can expect it to have a aluminum unibody, likely very similar to the HTC One. On the other hand, there are rumors of a plastic HTC One phone in the works that could have a 2014 launch, which may very well be the HTC M8.
We will likely find out more about HTC M8 rumors as discussions as HTC progress. We will keep you posted about what we learn.
Are you planning to get the next-gen HTC M8 upgrade of the HTC One?
