The Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC release date has already been delayed once, and with rumors flying that the remaining new characters have leaked online gamers who already bought a season pass may be regretting their decision. We already knew that Lobo, the anti-hero biker alien would be joining the roster, but read on for the rest of the new additions.

When the Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC release date finally arrives, the new characters will be Batgirl, General Zod (the Superman-villain) and Scorpion (from Mortal Kombat), as well as Lobo, at least according to Michael Ajibade. He writes on thekoalition.com that the news and accompanying YouTube video comes from a very reliable source.

Here's his full report on the Injustice: Gods Among Us release date rumors:

By now, most of you have already hit the labs in NetherRealm Studios' latest hit, Injustice: Gods Among Us. News of the first DLC character was slightly delayed due to the events that happened in Boston, but we now know that fan favourite and DC powerhouse anti-hero Lobo will be joining the cast of playable characters. That leaves three yet declared characters to be delivered to the Injustice community in the first season (I call it that since there is a deal to get the first four characters for the price of three via a "Season Pass"). Or does it? Have the remaining DLC characters been discovered?

A friend of mine (JaeRoar) recently made a YouTube video discussing a rumor of the three remaining DLC characters. It all stems from a guy who supposedly has a history in being right about these sort of things because he actually looks at the game's code to find out.

Read on for our rundown of what you need to know about each character when the Injustice: Gods Among Us release date arrives, and whether they're cool enough to fill up a slot in the roster.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Release Date Spoilers: Batgirl

Everyone knows Batgirl, though the title has applied to several different female superheroes who took up arms against crime alongside Batman. The first Batgirl was Betty Kane, who was soon replaced by Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara, who was introduced in the comics at the same time she debuted on the '60s TV show in a failed attempt to save its ratings. Soon afterwards, Helena Bertinelli (AKA Huntress) took up the Batgirl mantle, but was stripped of the black cape and mask after she broke the Batcode. Which version of Batgirl will we get to play with when the Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC release date arrives? There's no way to know for sure, but we'd put our money on the classic Barbara Gordon version.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Release Date Spoilers: General Zod

General Zod is a pretty big deal and one of Superman's toughest foes, ranking #32 in the "Total Film" top 50 villains of all time and #30 on IGN's top 100 comic book bad guys. This character is likely a tie-in with the upcoming Superman movie from Zach Snyder and Christopher Nolan. Zod shows up in the movie played by Michael Shannon ("Boardwalk Empire") and threatens to steal the show from a stacked cast including Russell Crowe, Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne. A super villain from Krypton with same powers as Superman? Just another reason we can hardly wait until the Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC release date.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Release Date Spoilers: Lobo

Remember Lobo? This alien mercenary-bounty hunter was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen and introduced in the early '80s (his hair gives it away). Lobo was always a fun, if rarely used, character until the '90s when he became an anti-hero biker. He's taken on everyone from the Justice League to Santa Claus to Judge Dredd to Wolverine (who kicked his butt thanks to a decisive vote from comic book readers). In the past, Lobo has both fought against and on the side of Superman. How will his character play into the fighting game's storyline? You'll have to wait until the Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC release date to find out.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Release Date Spoilers: Scorpion

What is Scorpion doing here? The better question is: What was Scorpion not doing in the DC universe fighting game from the start? This undead ninja spectre has long been one of the most popular characters from Mortal Kombat and now this revenge-seeking killer will be taking on the toughest and strongest from the DC world. We're sure that as soon as the Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC release date everyone will be arguing over who gets to play as Scorpion first.
